Never played "Life of..." but I assume it's something like a GTA3 goes warcraft? Oh this should probably be in General Development, incidentally. Well the first thing to do is have LOTS of random folks walking around on the map from place to place. I'd like to see them interact, too: maybe you could create a system that would have them stop and talk with one another. It'd be nice if you could also talk to them - you could have randomized responses depending on where you were in the map, what kind of unit you were talking to, etc. (I've got a good talking system in Oberia, see below if you want to rip it off.) Another idea (again, I don't know whether this is already done in LoaP) is vehicles. Let the player buy (or steal?) boats, horses, tanks, gryphons, zeppelins. Maybe have him ride a giant turtle or two. You could establish a trading system much like the one in Escape Velocity: have different kinds of goods, at different trading posts, and at each post different things cost different amounts, so by buying low and selling high you can make a slight profit. Having it be a multiplayer map or maps would be sweet. You'll just need a save code, which won't be too difficult I imagine, unless you're planning on doing a bunch of abilities and hero levels and stuff. Not worth it in my opinion: GTA never had experience, just different equipment you could pick up, and areas and items you could unlock. Speaking of which, secret packages would be excellent. |
