At least, for the art forums it is. Expect some changes into the art forums (thus skinning and modelling subforums included) in the next few days, starting now. The changes are made to help people browse the forums easier and faster, as well as to make certain rules known to people in a codex. The changes that will be applied in the following days are: - Codification of rules - There will be a set of rules and rights that are codificated. They will form the Codex Forum, consisting of material and formal rules. These rules are set to assist moderating the forums, as well to ensure the rights of the users, and what can or should be done (plights, obligations) and what is prohibited. The rules will be in force when it has been made known to the public. Note that the rules are mainly used to make it clear to the people what is allowed and what not. Knowing the rules will greatly improve their safety of their rights, as they have a less tendency to break the rules if they are actually aware of them. The rules in the Codex Forum serve as a ground for certain moderation decisions to limit the rights of the user in the forum. From another perspective, the rules serve as a ground for appeal; if a decision of a moderator is making a breach in the rules and rights, the user of which rights are affected can appeal to the current art director with his or her case. The art director, as a third party, will then make a binding decision based on the rules in the Codex Forum, custom law of the internet and the unwritten principles of decent and proper management/moderation. If you wish to assist me setting the rules and rights of the Codex Forum that are binding to all that use the Art forums, contact me on Mirc. - Artists General Discussion - Expect this forum to be merged and renamed to Request forum. Most of the topics there are related to requests or "forges", which are artists workshops. There are very few tips topics available there, so I wish to ask a few moderators to scout through that forum and note the tips and update them necesary regarding content (no posts will be deleted though; most likely they will be stacked away in the disposal facility of wc3c). The notes will then be processed into Faq topics that are for each respective forum. Topics from the Art. Gen. Disc. which covers help or tips are moved to their respective forums. This forum will have a subforum called "the Forge", which have all the workshop topics. A moderator can approve a certain post/topic to be qualified as a workshop and can assign certain benefits or rewards (may change). - The Artist Gen. Subforums - Offtopic gallery and fiction will be moved toward the Concept forum. I need suggestions however how the name of the concept gallery should be changed? Concept/design? PM me for suggestions. - Sticky posts - Sticky posts need to be "cleansed". Contradicting or double stickies should be removed. Stickies regarding rules etc are removed as well, as the Codex Forum will replace local law with one united one. Usefull stickies should be evaluated and their usefull information ripped out, which then will form the Faq Sticky for each forum. The moderators are reponsible for updating and maintaining the Faq sticky in their respective forum. The main task of the moderator now is to collect all the needed information and form a Faq, to help people on their way. This should help most people, as sometimes their answer is already provided in the Faq. - Contest Sub-Forum - A contest subforum will be created under the Request forum, as they are requests in a certain way. A moderator can assign certain priviliges to contests if those are deemed qualified to be officially supported by the site. Perhaps referal on the news-site or aid assigned by a moderator (like assign the model which won the contest to a professional skinner/animator), or prizes like a ftp account at WC3C's. Anyways, expect some stuff being done today so dont be surprised that posting might become problematic sometimes there. Thank you for your understanding and your time Regards, Cookie Wc3 Art Director |
