Well I've posted this before.. But I wasn't very detailed.. I tried PMing a few people who replied.. but I couldn't understand what they were saying and I didn't want to keep PMing them and be a pest. OK.. so firstly.. I'm VERY new when it comes to triggering and variables.. so please.. be as detailed as possible.. especially when it comes to conditions and variables.. I can never find the right thing there. Now here's what I'd like.. A Castle Gate.. the normal "Gate" Doodad, which has the ability to Open (Death Alternate animation) and then have the "Gate <Dead> pathing map" (you can walk through it), and then have the ability to close it again and it have the "Gate <base>" (you can't walk through it) pathing map. And being able to do that again and again. Some additional info: I don't want it to be a doodad.. I have an engineer who I'd like to be able to build a new gate and replace the old one. Also, I'd like it to be either a Unit Training or Unit creating event.. Or anything else.. such as a switch you can get a unit to select to open/close it....all i've seen in maps so far are where you have to type "-open gate" or whatever.. and I'm not fond of that. I think that's about it.. If you're going to reply.. Please be as detailed as possible.. I'm familiar with the object editor.. but when I see one line replies that are about a trigger.. I have no idea what to do.. and I just waste more hours trying to figure it out :\ I've been working 3 days straight on this gate.. and the only progress I've made is: Events - A unit enters (Entire Map) Conditions - (Unit-type of (Entering Unit)) Equal to OpenGateUnit Actions - Unit - Kill Open Gate 0031 <gen> // My Gate unit - Unit - Remove (Entering unit) from the game And what that does is it makes the gate die.. which plays the death animation.. then you can't select it. But as I said, I'd like it to play the open (Death Alternate) animation and be able to select it and make it go back to closed. I would appreciate SOO much if anyone can do this for me.. You can have a character in my map, or I can make mad love to you.. whatever ^_^ But please.. just be as detailed as possible.. Step by step.. I promise I won't PM you with any questions if you help me :D (If it works that is) Thanks! |

Well, I don't really know about the death animations and stuff, but if you want a gate that you could open/close, but still be selectable and not be destroyed i'm guessing, is that correct or what, because if so then i would tell ya a different alternative way (with details and pics, ect, ect) on how to do that, but if making the gate simply openable and closeable without being destroyed and not used by a "word command" then i wont bother, do reply to if it is a yes, you'd like the one without death animation... or no i want animation.... I dont know death animations really...... |

Naw.. Thanks for the reply though. Just don't like the whole typing to open it thing, too much work for the player. Could just open a map that has it and copy the trigger anyhoo. Anyone else know how to do what I asked? Is it even possible? o_O |

OH NO NO NO my friend! I have 2 different ways to open the gate WITHOUT word command, one is opening it by having the unit walk into a region (just put a circle of power of region so player knows where it is) and is very small and simple. Or have a building next to the gate and have it deal with trained units by one unit called Open and the other Closed. Not through the word command |

The only difference between the three would be the event and event response. |
