[RE:] Reputation System

Well, incase you didnt know, I made a thread about rep spammers and such, got a lot of support, but it was locked because maverick turned it into a flamewar. I hope we are all mature enough to get on with it.

What I want:
Abusers and spammers of the rep system banned, or their rights taken away, and named identified (damned cowards)

Reputation system to show the name of the person who sent it, a 10 character minimum message. That way they cant impersonate someone, spam, or hide from us.

The reason I'm re-making this thread is that the system is finished, and the ceasefire of spam on it has ended. Lets just say my rep went from +25 to -1 over one night.

I agree. What should happen is that you can opt to see the poster of rep, but you have to wait a week (preferably a week+) to effect their rep, hoping that you either cooldown from a flamewar or such, or that you can immidately report to a mod the spammer.

Having seen some of your posts recently kuramaRoze, I am not surprised. You seem to me like a troll or some noobie looking to get liked quickly by suckin' up to any staff left around here.
Dont we have irc for this kind of crap topic... Why bother reopining a flame war for a topic that will be forgotten and never considered?

The rep systems rubbish, good thing i think a total of 2 people across the board actually bother to check someones rep, and/or actually care.

i do care, points are symbols
symbols of power, i mean they're useless, but you can get obsseded by them, you're supposed to seek power, to have more points, more points to do what
uhh well yes some rep points are given loosly, it can be for personnal hate, or just for pity or injustice... rep points are indeed wrongly placed sometimes but it could hardly be changed, anyone could get easily banned

Then again, im not suprised, since you're usually quick to assume something (ex, you said one of my skins was my first, when ive made a crapload, and released 10-20 or so.)

-edit- Is the rep system bugging, or does raises in raters effect yours too? mine was 25 yesterday, -1 today, and now its 42... wierd :P

Dont flame. Being a moderator of a hosted project is a far cry from being a merited staff member. Those "elected" into power are the ones people consider staff, those who simpy have acces to the staff forum are not.

maybe for your new reputation points, somebody went into the system and boosted yours to stop you whining?

KuramaRoze: I agree, something is messed up. I have 9 points of reputation altering power! Sweet! (goes to add peoples rep) In the meantime, can somemod explain why we all suddenly have all this power?

I've talked with Draco, and he has told me that he can see who has gave him rep points. He apparently didn't know that we couldn't either.

But then, I like to spread of reputation about. Sometimes that may be a bit harsh, but then, there are no rules governing what we can and cant give or take reputation from.

If anyone wants points, just ask me, and I'll boost you by 50 or so. if I feel like it.

I always though the point system sucked because the point werent equaly distribued, skinner and modeller always had double or triple time the point of others like me. Not that im power hungry or something but its just hard to see I get the same amount of rep or point for a demo which took month to make and a skinner get it in 2 hours.

Anyway, im not the type who complain and is elvoved in every thread of this site. I'm happy with my rep list full of green dot.

I cant understand why a long time project leader cant be as high as a moderator of a sub forum. I think anybody who is here since a long time and who has helped the community should be respected equally ; moderator, director, leader and members.

Good points |)ark, but its arguable both ways. Personally, I think certain people dont deserve their staff positions.

Being here a long time doesn't mean you're benevolent. Some people do lot of work and get little back, and some do nothing and sit on their pompous ridden thrones.

Besides, being a moderator isn't much of a bonus. You're the director's lackey, and you have to try and be nice to noobs. I said try.

I didn't know I was a mod till I saw the staff forums and I was like, shit did someone mess up?
