Well... the name of any map usually comes from what the map is about, so it's best to get a storyline going first, or at least something. Making a name before you start the map with no idea in mind is where you get generic stuff like "Warriors of Light RPG...." or soemthing to that effect :o |

No, open RPG's have storylines, if not quite basic ones usually. An open RPG is an RPG where the player can do what they like rather than follow a set path. They are usually multiplayer as well. I'd also like to point out that making an RPG without a story is quite dangerous as people usually like to know why they're doing what they're doing. Sir Tom: Go kill that demon Lord! Squire Dave: Why? Sir Tom: Because.... I said so, that's why! See? It's not much fun without a reason is it? At least try to put something in and then you might be able to come up with a title. |

Yep, optimal style would be something like few quests which link the world to a story then additional (load of them) quests to give something more for players to work on. But only few of them move story forwards. Computer controlled adventurers also make the world feel more like alive and overall every character that does not just sit there and speak when spoken to ;) Some real characters who seem to have their own nature and spirit. |
