i had a funy idea the other day to create a banner for wc3 maps. i thought it could be usefull for people makeing an ums map or whatever. its a very simple model so it shouldnt be very hard to skin. ofcourse you will be givven the CREDITS for the skin!!! after it has been skinned i will give it some animations and perhaps make some more for the other races. (its an ORCISH BANNER!) im attaching the unwrap so everyone can have a go at it. you can practically do whatever you want but i have some minor requests: -make the flag teamcollor -use alpha's to give the flag a "worn out" / "old" look. -the other 2 ribbons CAN NOT be teamcollor, but should just be black or leather ribbons... ---> perhaps you can make several different flag signs so people can choose out of a varyity of different banners. (this is just an extra, it would be very appreciated but if you dont like to its fine with me.) hope someone will suprise me with a nice skin, Arch_Angel |

Ok, this is what I've done. ![]() I've finished the hardest part of the skin, the flag. But there is one problem. The Alpha channel interferes with the team colour, your going to have to make team color appear only in this area... which I have called the "Area of Color" ![]() Area Of Color That way I can add in alpha in this area (which I have called Area of Alpha) and it won't turn it into team-color. ![]() Area Of Alpha So just make the model and make it so that if I put any black in that "Area of Color" it'll take it as colour instead of alpha. Everything around that should be considered alpha or opaque, no team colour anywhere else except the "Area of Color". Thats all - XenoX |

wait a sec... ive recently updated the model with the cooperation of pencilgod who also skinned him for me. (remember him? he was a mod) he told me you cant have teamcolor AND alpha on the same model/part/thingy... are you telling me you can? i wil attach the blp and mdx for you so you can test this out yourself okay? i cant do much other than modeling... ohyeah and you can also see the things i added / changed! keep me informed, Arch_Angel |

Fair enough, goodluck with pencilgod, if you need any more help let me know. But as for the alpha and team color, look at the bird's wings in war3 (such as the Chimaera), they have alpha edges but have team colour in the center. Also look at the wisp, its semi-transparent but has team colour in it. There has to be a way. Anyway, goodluck with that. |

no wait!!! i wasnt saying pencilgod was the only 1 who could skin it! id be very glad if multiple people contributed to this so... please continue with it :P as for the alpha and teamcollor, if you could fix that it would be awesome! now i modeled the roughness in the flag but it doesnt look so wel if im ohnoust... i like your alpha flag better. perhaps you could help me with that because i dont know much about skinning or mdl editing or whatever. if you still like to help tell me what files you need and ill be glad to send em over! |

You'll have to make the flag team colour in the shape of the rags. Only way to do it, I believe. |

Just make the rest of the banner a different mesh, then you can have alpha on the logo, and tc on the rest. |
