What tools do i need to create a model please help.

Well if you never used these tools, try to post a request for the model you want, since these tools are really very complex to use. If you are courageous enough to try, you'll need 3dsMax (expensive, very expensive, about 40000$ I think!) and blizzard's art tools (for download here). For minor editions (hero glow, particle emitters...), you can use Yogbul's file converter (for download here) to convert an .mdx model to .mdl, then open the .mdl file with notepad, edit it and reconvert it to .mdx.

The short and sweet of it is, if you don't already know how to make models or do 3d work, you likely will not be ready for doing WC3 at all.
