A difficult challenge

I am glad to see so many enthusiastic people terraining these days. :)
but it pisses me off that you can just whip up a model to achieve any old effect you need. So here is a great challenge.

Make a wall loop around a base or whatever. Basically, a wall around something, with a gate. Sound easy? Think again.

--The Wall must be walkable, perfectly walkable.
--They can be made using anything provided in the World Editor, and nothing else.
--At least one ramp that leads up to the wall (so you can get on and off)
--People can't just walk off the edges of the walls, there are set boundries. The only way on and off a wall is with a ramp. (or ramps)
--The wall must be like a perfect O. units must be able to walk from one side of a gate to another. (though not walk on the gate, duh)

Extra points for:
-Destructable walls.
-No triggers
-No Jass

Disqualified if:
-You use anything that blizzard did not provide. No custom models, nothing of that sort
-Ripping off other people's work

The winner is the one who makes the best looking wall that adheres to all those rules up there. lets see what you new folks are made of :)

I would be quite pleased if a lot of people find this to be very easy, it would just mean I underestimate the current generation of mappers :P

sounds like fun, have a few ideas already, gonna start when I get home. Nice setting for a contest I must say. Will how the thing secluded within the walls count? (ie, how well it is done..)

If there is some sort of tie, the thing the wall defends might count :)

But this is to see if people know how to use their tools, the oens they have. it is ridiculously easy to whip up a city or a little base or something.

Also, if this proves succesful, I will start making more of these challenges. I already have another one in mind. It might teach would be TAs how to use their resources wisely, I hope it does. :P

How would you make a perfect O? Many of the things in WE are rectangular and walls would most likely be square shaped. What about the walls that can be easily made using the apply cliff button in the terrain pallete? I am assuming we either A. Can't use them at all or B. Use them a bit but not as the main wall. Can we make it so they can't walk off by using the boundary terrain button? O and ramps must be made on straigt edges or else they won't work and only by useing the apply cliff. The ramp doodads also have the straight edge problem along with that they can't be rotated and if a custom doodad is made with them they don't look that nice and I am not sure if they even work in game. Elevators and other things are also not round like the gate and also requires walls on the sides. Plus many of blizzard's doodads do not cooperate and likely require a custom one using a different pathing but this creates a problem with units walking on them. Then the issue where like you can't have units over/on/around and under/through the gate.
I probably also have more issues/questions but I can't think of any of them right now. I am also probably not going to enter in this but I just thought I might bring this up.

By a perfect O i meant there are no breaks in the wall. like this:

W = WALL
O = ground
G = Gate

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOO
OOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWOOO
OOOWWWWWGGGGGGWWWWWWOOO
OOOWWWWWGGGGGGWWWWWWOOO

Get it now? I am at school else id find a better way to illustrate what I mean.

Also, everything I have said is possible. i would know, having done it myself before. Ill show you folks mine at the end - which i choose :P

You can't use cliffs, at all. Its all doodads. And about doodad ramps, use em, but if someone finds sometihng better looking, don't complain.

And why won't you participate? Give it a try, you might be surprised how much the WE can do.

No cliffs? you said annything the World Editor can provide, the pourpuse is to make an amazing wall right, so what difference does it make if some of it is cliff?

Probably because that would be too easy. Almost anyone can make walls using the apply cliff a couple times to make a wide tall wall and then use the ramp tool to stick a ramp there.

But how would that look, would someone who just raised the terrain and applied a ramp win? I think not. It could still be a valued asset to those who use it in order to achive a wall of magnificent proportions.... The first post with the rules stated all tools accessible with the WE so by your god, we should be allowed to use cliffs.

Ok, he has a point, you can use cliffs. Have fun making good lookings walls.

But remember, extra points if it is destructable :)
