I have looked around this site, and also at a few campaigns, but couldn't find a solid answer to my question: When you open up the campaign editor, it has a tab to allow you to do custom units, skills, abilities, etc... just like when you do a single map. My question is, how do the units and abilities you create in here effect the maps you add to the campaign? Do they override the changes and custom units of the maps, or are they overridden by the settings in each of the maps? Also, Why are they not used in many of the campaigns I have found available for download? Are there disadvantages to putting them in there instead of the individual maps? If someone could give me a quick explination of these features I would be most thankfull. |

Thank Panto for pointing me to this (don't even know what forum I'm in). The settings of individual maps will override the settings in the campaign "custom data" tab. As you alter the fields in the "custom data" tab, you'll notice that altered fields turn blue. As you alter fields in a map's object editor, you'll notice that altered stats turn pink, even those that had been blue before. It takes a little while to get used to the convention, but it's very intuitive for me at this point. Quote:
Some campaigns may have been started before TFT came out. I know we had some grief using the campaign editor at first because all of our maps had been done by different people, none of whom had communicated with each other, so unit stats were wildly different from map to map. In general, it's always better to make your global changes in the campaign editro. In some cases, though, you may want units to behave a little differently on individual maps (for instance, I make our siege unit incapable of destroying trees on one map), in which case you can make changes in the object editor that override those in the campaign editor. |

HeroRPG use campaign. It's a very useful tool when handling multiple maps. For avoiding bug like the campaign editor overided(sp?) one of my map... Always create new unit in the campaign editor. When you go back to your map object editor, you will see your map's unit(in pink) and your campaign unit(in blue). I cant think of any disaventage the campaign editor make, maybe people just doesnt know how to use it. |
