Free Custom Unit Icons

Update: I will now create avatars from any Warcraft unit with or with out the standard box. Also, I can edit any existing icons you may have to be Hero Scorescreen, Auto-cast, Passive, et cetera. In addition, I also offer to convert icons from any image format into a workable blp or targa icon, as well as the other way around.

I will make free custom icons for any unit. If the unit you want it a custom unit, then screenshots of the unit at several angles or a map containing the unit, whichever is easier for you. The finished icon will include an active, disabled, and scorescreen (Hero only) version of the icon. Also, fill out the following information:

Unit Name: Used for naming the file.
Hero?: Yes or no; if yes the file will include a Hero scorescreen icon.
Background: Specify whether a specific look is desired for the background, if this is left blank I will use the default background (all black) for the icon.
Types: Tell me whether you need passive, auto-cast, et cetera here.
Other: Any other information you would like me to know about the icon.

For avatars, tell me what unit you want it of and whether you would like a border or not.

Here are some icons I made from a few default Warcraft units. The Kel'Thuzad icon has the Void background. (Note:The bottom ones are a bit blurry since I had to smash them into the picture)

no offense but anyone can create icons from 3d models, maybe if there were freehand icons we'd consider it, but we could do these ourselves

I know it's not incredibly difficult for some, but I enjoy doing this and want to help people who may not have the time or the program to do so themselves.

It doesn't fit exactly to this thread, but with what program can I do such pics because I would need some for my forum as avatars! Additionally: How can I make an animated Avatar myself?

You can use any image editing program to create an avatar. PhotoImpact is the one I use, but PhotoShop is often considered a better program. For animated avatars you can use PhotoImpact's GIF editor. I am unaware of whether PhotoShop does or does not have a similiar program. I could create a non-animated avatar if you tell me what you want it of.


Here are the icons I made for you. They include an active, disabled, and scorescreen version. The blighted forest didn't take well to resizing, so it's not all that visable. The icon itself was based off the unit's portrait because the actual unit's face was not visible. I hope this is what you want!

i have a bunch of icons already made, i just need you to make the disabled versions of them...can u do that?

I can do that for you. Just post the icons here, and I'll download them, create the disabled versions, and then post them for you.

theres ONE icon i want autocast. its called "rage.tga"

then the three files "drok" "heromarauder" and "kobold miner" i need to have score screen icons...tyvm

Working on the icons... Unfortunately, it's late and I won't be able to finish them all tonight. I'll have 'em up in the morning.

Shimra could you put them in a zip file instead of rar because i dont have winrar and i dont want it either it forced me to reinstall the whole system.

OK, I have included here all the icons to be disabled, a pic of Amara, and the AmaraIcon.zip. And to repeat what I said above, the icon was made from unit's portrait so I could have it at a higher quality.

How this one? If you like it, I'll make the disabled and Hero scorescreen ones, otherwise I'll see if I can get it to be better. I included a larger sized image, in case the icon's wasnt satisfactory.

Also, if there is a specific look you want, let me know and I'll try to capture that.
