Chopper Strike - Map in development

I am planning to create a helicopter battle player vs player game. Here are some things that will be in it.

- Free for all, or Team Battle, 8 players
- 2 hostile computer players that attack anyone, will seige player bases at random.
- 5 minute(may change) rounds.
- Kill all enemy bases to win.
- 2 types(may add more) of helicopters to choose from, each specializing in its own thing.
--Apache Gunship: Fast movement speed || Fast reload speed || Medium Damage || Light armor || Medium HPs || Holds 4 units || Medium fuel capacity || Carrys large amounts of Ammunition
--Apache Gunship Hero Abilitys: Standard Rockets, Engine Boost, Vulcan Cannon Spray, Air Strike(? abilitys will probably change)
--Apache Gunship normal Abilitys: Burst Change(3 round burst, 5 round burst, 10 round burst) Commands( Eject pilot, Land, Sat imaging(more to come)


--Unnamed Chopper(I need a name for this): Slow movement speed || Slow reload time || Heavy Armor || Large amount of HP || Holds 6 units || large fuel capacity || Carrys Medium amount of ammunition
--Unnamed Hero Abilitys: Improved Rockets, Heat seeker Missle, call reinforments, Plasma Sheild(Abilitys will probably change)
--Unamed Normal Abilitys - Burst Change( 3 round, 5 round, 10 round,) Commands( Eject Pilot, Land, Sat imaging, Drop smart mine)


- Fuel(mana) is burned up overtime, if fuel reaches 0 your chopper crashes and your pilot is unloaded.
- Refuel at fuel depots(takes a short time)
- Ammuniton control, can buy items that instantly restock ammo or go back to your base to restock ammo. If ammo runs out your primary weapon stops working.
- 3 round burst, less damage, only uses 3 bullets from your stock
- 5 round burst, medium damage, uses 5 bullets from your stock
- 10 round burst, heavy damage, uses 10 bullets from your stock
- Abilitys do not take mana, only have a reload time.
- If you eject your pilot your pilot spawns under your chopper and your chopper becomes unusable untill you reenter it.
- mines, and enemy missles and mortars clutter the hostile areas.
- Enemy missles and mortars will randomly be shot at different time intervals.
- *May or may not add a 3rd person view
- As choppers level their maximum fuel capacity will be raised.
- Uses custom models, skins, and music to enhance the game.



I want to make this game as fun and high speed and action filled as possible.
any extra Ideas and any thoughts or comments would be great!

Mmmm. I have a question, are you shooting more for an AOS style of play or a 1on1 duel kinda feel?

Both types of gameplay have great impact on your design choices. But i would say that the pace of the game is something you should pay special attention to. You have to keep action fast paced and flowing but you can't make it too twitchy or lag becomes very apparent.

I am going for more of a battle, the 2 computer players will fight eachother and everyone else AoS style by sending units. But the players main way to fight will be with their helicopter, and pilot, they will be able to train other units, the units trained by the players will take resources that can only get gotten by destroying enemy units and depots. So until the players kill a good amount of stuff the main battles will be done with the helicopters.
