Dark Eon

Dark Eon is an altered melee map that I'm creating. Dark Eon features five completely new races, The Disciples of Belial, The Disciples of Lolth, The Disciples of Orcus and The Disciples of Graz'zt. Also, players have to face The Celestial Defenders.

Each player race is demonic and wholly evil, and the map is set in The Abyss.

| The Disciples of Graz'zt |
+-------------------------+

Units

Efreet
The Efreet is the worker of Graz'zt's forces.

Satyr Archer
The Satyr Archer is Graz'zt main warrior, using his bow and his magical songs to curse the enemy and aid his allies.

Rakshasa
The Rakshasa is one of the game's most powerful casters, but he isn't weak in a fight. The Rakshasa works best as necromancy.

Stoney Devil
The Stoney Devil is a huge behemoth who uses his brute strength to pummel the enemy into submission.

Earth Elemental
The Earth Elemental has the amazing ability to cunjure earthquakes. Tremors surround him, knocking down and damaging enemies, and he creates quakes whenever he attacks.

Portal Drake
The Portal Drake can teleport to any location on the map. Unfortunately, he has an extremely poor attack. Use him for reconasaince.

Varrangoin
The Varrangoin is a flying demon that uses sorcery to annihilate his enemies.

Black Dragon
A black dragon. Need I say more?

Succubus
The Succubus is a whiley opponent, using her two blades to make mincemeat out of her enemies.

Khaasta
The Khaasta is a heavy warrior that charges the field and bowls down his foes.

Drow
The most agile warrior in the map, the Drow is as magical as she is strong. using her dagger and shadow spells, she spills blood like water.

Wraith
The Wraith is a flying spellcaster. Because it's incorporeal, it can't be attacked, but it can't attack either. On the other hand, its arsenal of arcane skills make up for this tenfold.

Heroes

Graz'zt
Graz'zt, archfiend of seduction of pain is a quick and lethal warrior.

Lamia
Lamia are powerful heroes that use their speed to take down enemies.

Cool, everyone loves demons. But if you're doing all races as demons why not theme them to have some variety.
Also there is a lot of strong characters, too mny maybe with almost no support units.
Finally throw in some innovative features to spark interest.

Keep us informed, peace out.

First of all, some more on race descriptions.

After considered deliberation, I decided to remove Belial and replace him with Mephistopheles. I mainly did this because of balance issues; one of the key units in Belial's army is his daughter, Fiernia. As a hero equal in power to Belial himself, it would have caused some serious gameplay issues.
The decision hasn't set me back too much as I'm still in the planning stages for his forces.

Also, I've got some more on racial themes.

Mephistopheles - Hellfire (Fire)
Lolth - Toxin
Orcus - Undeath
Graz'zt - Darkness

Some Gameplay Info

First of all, one of the most important features of the game is the Class System.

+---------------+
| Class System |
+---------------+

All heroes have basic abilities based on their species, such as the Lamia having trample. These abilities do make heroes reasonably strong, but they're much better if you take them to the next level by giving them a class.

At level 1, heroes can choose a class from the following:

Barbarian - Powerful wild warrior who bases his attacks on pure emotion.
Bard - Reasonable fighter who has a small amount of spells and uses song.
Cleric - Divine magic user (divine doesn't have to mean good-aligned, there are evil gods too ;)).
Druid - Natural divine caster who can summon and control plants and animals.
Fighter - Martial combat expert.
Monk - Hand to hand warrior. Excellent at dodging blows.
Paladin of Slaughter - A minor divine caster who slices and dices his enemies.
Ranger - Natural warrior who uses bow and blade.
Rogue - Hide-and-seek expert who gains gold almost as fast as experience.
Sorcerer - Caster who uses magic as a trained ability. Good at fast-casting, but not many spells.
Wizard - Studious caster who has a huge repetoire, but isn't too quick on the draw.

Classes giving ability bonuses and many extra abilities, as well as changing the look of the unit. As the hero gains levels, his class abilities increase. Classes should make the game much more fun, because heroes will be different everytime you play.

I'm planning to put in some prestige classes which can be accessed at later levels, but I don't know how feasable it is.

--------------------

The resources have been changed to Arcanum and Hellfire. You'll be able to use resources more creatively than just spending them.

More info next time, and keep comments coming!

First off, are your names based off anything?

What makes the cleric different from Sorcerer/Wizard? I'm supposing Godly magic in this realm will be similar to demonic magic.

Monk and warrior are too similarish.

Whenver i hear ranger i think of either Aragorn (LotR) or Hawk (SeikenDensetsu). Maybe instead of just a blade/bowman he could be like a hunter/trapsetter.

Here's what i gather about the class system:
Your hero has a couple of base abilities and depending on the class you choose those abilities change and you get other class-specific abilities.

This sounds like a lot of work but keep on going.

The Cleric casts spells that curse, heal or effect enemies in other ways. Sorcerers and wizards cast missile and summoning spells. Basically, cleric spells are much less flashy that wizard and sorcerer spells.

The monk and the fighter are both good at combat, but they're quite different. The fighter focuses on offence, the monk focuses on defence.

A trapper ranger sounds like a good idea, I think I'll use it.

Top (left to right): Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, Sorcerer
Bottom (left to right): Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin of Slaughter

Just above the Wizard is his Ice Mephit familiar, and above the Sorcerer is his Pseudodragon familiar. Below the Druid is his Wolf familiar.
