Custom Armor/Weapon Upgrade Help

I'm creating a new version of Marine Ranchers, classic madness map, and I would like to include armor and weapon upgrades. Now the map uses units from all four races. How do I go about setting this up. I just want to have the Fortress (where peons are produced) have these upgrades available and I would like there to be just one armor button and one weapons button. Once pressed I would like the armor/weapons to be upgraded by one for every race. I have flying units like the chimera, frost wyrm, and blue drake (which isn't configured to use armor I belive); along with a lot of other units. To say the least they are diverse. Now how in the hell do I set this up so all units will be upgraded? Can they all just be configured to use one type of armor upgrade and one weapon upgrade or do they all need to use what they are regularly configured to use? I'm quite confused on how this would work but from what I've read its quite possible. I just have no clue how :bgrun: Any help is highly appreciated.

Probably the easiest way to do it is to switch the "upgrades used" field for all the creatures to the same one (eg, the human upgrades for weapons and armor), then just have a building that upgrades those. I'm not sure if that would work for all units, but it's worth a try.

yup, just give every unit the same upgrade used, why not?

Well my only concern with doing that is that those units will not be able to use upgrades which were not intended for them. Like for some reason it would be hardcoded into the game that they only benefit when using the upgrades originally created for them. I don't know though. If this is not the case then case solved. Does anybody know for sure?

So what would the trigger(s) look like that I need to create to make these buttons which will perform the upgrade?

Its not a trigger its in the unit editor. You change the upgrades used to whatever you want. When I did this I got mixed results. I was just using heros and the biggest thing was I could not use an upgrade from another race. I did not try all combinations (which would be cool if somebody did and put it into a table or something), but upgrades that seemed like they would apply did. IE: I gave the paladin iron swords upgrade and armor upgrade. I gave the archmage leather armor and such. I did try to give the archmage animal war training and it did not do anything. So stuff like sorceress adept training would probably not work on a paladin.

Note: When using armor upgrades on other units such as the paladin you must change the Defense Upgrade Bonus.
