Howdy, been testing a map of mine, it's kinda heavy on custom imported stuff and as such it's getting pretty big; so far I've just been testing it in singleplayer but recently I tried to load it on a LAN and it told me the map exceeded the maximum multiplayer map size. As such, two questions: 1) How big is the maximum multiplayer map size? 3 meg? 10 meg? 2) Is there any way to disable it? The map wasn't really intended for battle.net anyway, mostly just on LANs where computers can easily handle it. Thanks in advance, - R |

The maximum is, unless it has been changed, 4 megs. |

You can give the map manually to people on your LAN. While the max is 4 mb, if you ever do want to play it on Battle.net, I don't recommend you make it anything over 1 mb. |

I know I can give the map to them, but we can't play together regardless... trying to start a map that's >4meg will result in a "map too large" error before anyone has even joined it. The only way to initialise the starting screen is to play through Singleplayer->Custom Game, unless there's a warcraft mod out there somewhere that removes the restrictions over a LAN. Otherwise, time to start cropping stuff! Thanks for the info. |
