Help with skinning program and alpha channels

Does anyone know to to do whatever it is you have to do with alpha channels so a skin isn't invisible on a freeware skinning program or on microsoft paint untill i buy photoshop?

Not all programs can alpha edit. Paint definiately can't, try getting the demo by searching google or get the full one from somewhere else...
