portraits swords and hammers

I have 2 questions, if anyone can help it would be appreciated:
#1 I've made a skin for the the Night Elf Archer unit (Textures\Archer.blp) The skin shows up in game for the unit, but not the portrait! What can i do to resolve this?

#2 I've made a skin for Arthas (the good paladin) and I alpha'd out the hammer. Once again the skin shows up in game but the hammer is still there! Even when i open the blp the hammer is still blotted out...

:( plz help if can

I did compress the skins when converting from TGA to blp using Warcraft 3 Viewer to about 27%...perhaps this might have an effect?

Hmm, are you certain that you alphaed out the hammer, with the alpha channel hilighted? I have alphaed arthas hammer many times and it works fine. The portrait should change with the skin, unless you didn't change the face or hair, then the portait would look the same and the orgininal.

of both things i'm certain. As far as the portrait, if i zoom in on the unit in game, the face is changed along with the rest of the skin, but not on the portrait. I'm gonna try them without as much compression...i don't think it's gonna change anything though

maybe u are using a different channel transperency channel??

Well with the archer if I recall. There are two skins for it. One for the portrait and one for the model. Extract the portrait, convert it to MDL then open it in notepad and look for the dirrectory of the skins. If this is too hard ill do it later, i have to to school now, bye.^_^

perhaps you are mistaking the word "icon" for portrait. do you mean the animated picture of the guys face that talks? or the icon for the hero in the upper left corner?

and as for the hammer, check your blp thru wc3 image extractor. sometimes when i convert from tga to blp in wc3 viewer, it like flips the image around. that might mess it up a bit.

The archer has another skin for the portrait like the tuaren chieftain. Either edit the mdl or look around the the tft path or the roc path i forgot which on is the good one.

I'm going to use the HighElf archer instead, the 1 skin works for the unit and portrait for it.

However, I'm still very confused about the Arthas skin. First I whited out the hammer in normal mode and then blacked it out in alpha mode. In game, not only is the hammer there, but it's not white. Therefore I'm guessing there's a separate skin for the hammer also...but this is stupid since the hammer is obviously in the original unit skin already...

I'm posting the tga version of this skin if anyone wants to try it out and help. It's an Aragorn remake of Arthas by KDEWolf, i'm just trying to blot out the hammer b/c i want to be able to attach different swords to the unit.

o_O it looks like i'm gonna have to use the arthas with sword model, and alpha out frostmourne. I have another unit that uses frostmourne but i'll just have to attach a sword to him too

this better work or i'm giving up

Here a none no weapon arthas. It doesn't have weapon glow either. Is that what you want? It has heroglow on foot not on weapon.
