after some discusion with Mozared it has become clear to me people have very different opinions on what ighting looks best. time of day, and custom lighting, such as torches/lanterns. so post what you think looks best for which tilesets. ill start with barrens. i think looks best at dusk or night (providing its open), this is mostly based on Mozareds austrailian terrain |

depends on the mood. Midnight for sad or eerie, unsure. Bright light for happy. Morning and dusk is the best time for battles in my opinion. |

Storms and scary images should definitely have dusk/night. Things like a sacred or holy temple or church might have day to make everything look bright. If you're really good you might be able to use night with it to give it that peaceful feeling I suppose. Cityscape, Dalaran, etc. would use day. Night Elves might use night since they are called Night Elves. So this would be Ashenvale and Felwood. I agree with toxicseaweed3. Battles might start at morning and the aftermath would be at dusk or so. Maybe a sunset to show the warriors going home celebrating after a day's victory. Sunken Ruins depends on what and where your making. An island might use day to show the sun on it. Night might be used if there is a storm or something or dark jungles. Temples and ruins can go either way. Icecrown, etc. might have use daytime for the sun to glisten off the snow. Underground terrain would use darkness or like glows from somethings like a volcano or so. |
