Here goes, I'm working on a variety of maps to train my skills atm, including my upcoming Team Tower Defense(don't worry, it has plenty of original idea's and funtastic fun for all you Tower lovers, and best of all, it doesn't take away from the raw excitement of good ol' building and killing! :D ) Well, I've been working on my Tower Def for quite awhile it being my first map, learning up my skills, and reading all the threads on the boards here and trying to figure it out step by step. Got everything down to the pinch now, except I'm still fuzzy on boolean's and variables. Okay, back to the point of the RPG. I know people come here with millions of idea's a day, about .00001% of them actually get together and happen. But here goes. I want to do an FF type RPG, but it has many chapters to it, its a continuely developped game. We create most of the basics, quests, monsters, levels, all customized ect. And I've been extensively looking over the trigger forums. I think I (and a future team) want to put together a customized item handling system. That way you can wield more than 6 items at once, and we'll also make a trigger system for player made buy/sell stores using multi boards. Anyways here hows I wanna break it down. 15 - 20 Chapters, each Chapter is 1 map, we'll make a chapter every X months, of course people will not dominate one Chapter in a day, or in a week per say. It'll be challenging, and there'll be a customized save/load system for your characters that transfers them from one Chapter to the next. I figured we could export/import old trigger systems them update and modify them for new Chapters, in order to keep the old systems and items, while putting in new stuff. Anyways, there will be a storyline leading up to the destruction of the planet, and the players have to defeat the final boss(es), and they'll get a special 20 - 30 minute long cinematic at the end. Now that I've got my idea's down and in order, I know thats a lot to hope for, but I have a website/forums I can organize and we can use for our project, and I can probably set us up an IRC chat as well, and our own upload/download server to quickly bounce maps to eachother after we edit them. If your interest in this, and willingly to work (you must be a very dedicated worker, just because you don't want to work on it after awhile means you can quit((literally)) you'll ruin it for everyone else.) This is meant to be a deeply involved project. If your definitely willing to put some time investment in this, and do it, I'm looking for about a team of 8 - 10 people. Throw me an email at [email protected], or AIM me @ insaneshark2111. Heres a quick run down : -Customized Item/Trade/Wield System -20 Chapters, one Chapter every X months, leading up to a final chapter. -Have Website/Forums, can bring up an IRC Chat. -Able to make a fast & private upload/download for easy exchange of map edits -10-20 Team Members, need mappers, scripters, modellers. Approx #'s : 3-4 mappers, 3 scripters, and 3 modellers. -Looking for very dedicated workers, that are professional about their work. -I'm equally adept at all fields, more in mapping, and organization(as in my site, and keeping idea's and the team together and in order... I'm also a pro with photoshop) Hope that wasn't to big of a read :> , looking foward to doing this, and bringing RPG to a new level for WC3 Players everywhere. |

Let me get this straight: For a single map(TD), you need 10-20? You know people usually do this ALONE, right? |

I love this idea! I'm (IMHO) a fairly good triggerer, and would love to help out here. Im not too bad at terrianing either, if I don't have to map out the idea (aka, you make a really general overview or major landmarks). I like the idea that long time players would always have new worlds to explore and new items to collect. My only concern it playing backwards (aka a player starts in the 2nd level; what would happen if he goes to the first with new items-- they wouldn't get added correctly, but that's just one small issue. Also, what would the combat be like? FF/hybred turnbased + realtime/realtime/first person (Ive made a FP camera that can follow any terrian using the height map with some help with the equasion from Remy) Would characters be selectable, different classes, or a Dialbo like hybred? I personally thing the latter would be best, but all would have good results. I've looked into a few ways to cut password lengths, and I'll probally test one I came up with tommorrow. I really love this idea, and I hope it doesn't fall though. |

"Let me get this straight: For a single map(TD), you need 10-20? You know people usually do this ALONE, right?" I took the time to write it, atleast take the time to read the ENTIRE post before you speak. |

Right, so let me get this straight, you only made a TD before and now planning on a huge RPG? Not the best idea. You might want to give a try to a smaller project or even joining someone else for experience. A while ago (rather a long time ago :P) someone made a thread around here somewhere (a mod did) that explained how you had to start and all. Anyway, the RPG doesn't sound too bad. Not something I would look forward to, nor something I would completely forget in several minutes. (like usual) Anyway, I am not able to offer any assistance, even if I could (sorry) but I can't anyway. You didn't gave too much info about the RPG itself. If you are in dire need of history give me a PM (I don't think that, that RPG is playing in the wc3) And 1 more thing then... Perhaps a name would be useful :P A name for the RPG. I can't recall you named it :P Good luck -Fladian |

I left a lot of those blanks purposely in order to give a future team more choices to making and contributing their own idea's to the RPG, it wouldn't be that great if I came up with everything already. ahh, and I forgot to mention that I'm a long time Starcraft UMS Maker. 5 years to be exact now, made thousands of maps and various fixes and edits in Starcraft UMS maps over the years now. Also I'm a quick learner. I can tell you now that I can do almost anything in WC3 except a couple things involving major JASS and Variable construction. But thats only because I haven't had time to play around with it, and since I already have someone really good at scripting, I don't need to know it yet. |

To those wondering, I have not forgot about this. Infact me and LegolasArcher here from the boards have been working on this. I've laid down some of the terrain now, and he's done some triggering for custom multiboard systems. If your interested, please send me an email with your resume and what you can do. Thank you. |
