What did you use to convert the skin from tga to blp?
Also, what exactly do you see in the editor. Is the model all black ? Or can't the model load the skin so there is a green box ? Or do you only see teamcolor ? Did you modify something to the alpha layers ?

I told you exactly what i did i just use solids and some dodge and burn...

But when i didn't use dodge or burn or solids (jsut normal paint) the skin worked...

what comes up is the regular unit as if no skin

Regular unit as if with no skin ? You mean the normal one with the game's normal skin, or a black model with teamcolor but everything else black ?
I don't know which converter you used but try using another one, it works for me sometimes. Also check that the modifications you've done have messed no alpha layer, this could be the origin of the problem.

Then I guess you must have entered a wong path. I don't know if capital letters count, but in War3Viewer it says the path is "units\Critters\VillagerMan\VillagerMan.blp", not "units\critters\VillagerMan\VillagerMan.blp", so this might be the problem. Also check you're using "\" and not "/".
If it still doesn't work, you might try to extract the model from the mpq, convert it to mdl, rename the skin path inside the model to something else (like Textures\VillagerMale.blp), reconvert to mdx and import the new model + the skin (with the new path for the skin).

Aardvark-
You have the path wrong... its
Units\Critters\VillagerMan\VillagerMALE.blp
Or
Units\Critters\VillagerMan1\VillagerMALE1.blp

I checked it in wc3viewer and capitilized the part you had wrong. It doesnt matter if the path is lowercase or upper. There are two different villager male skins (one with a brown shirt, and one with a blue shirt and beard) so try both paths and see which one is the one for your model.

Edit: You and i were typing at the same time, try it. I'm positive this is it. If it doesnt work then you're doing something wrong.
