How should camera work?

Everyone that tryed the old demo saw that the camera was locked on the hero, so the hero was always in the center of the screen.
As far as I remember, most classic rpg have a camera placed in each location and you see the hero move without being always in the center (sure there were some times where the cam followed).
I dont find this concept very original for a war3 mod so I was wondering if it was worth trying the second method.

Vote on the one you prefer.

I think a Locked Camera would work best, but let the player be able to rotate it around the hero. Trying to look at certain things can be very hard in a 3-D game if you can only see the back of your hero. I suggest having it still center on the hero, but let the player be able to rotate 360 degrees around.

Multiple cameras Perhaps you could ask the Crimson Creation team how they did it in we were snipers, there you can change the camera to fit your situation! ;)

I like challenge :P
Either I put regions on the map so when you are in one, the camera is changed OR I can try with a distance between the hero and the camera center(example: being below 1000 of an object camera would make it change).

The camera wont be locked behind the hero for sure, the problem is that there is no more keys that I can use to rotate the camera. The arrows are used to move and the ESC to lunch event, nothing else work. With this I'm sure the game stay easy to play.

As you don't need the normal "hotkeys" for spells and abilities in your system you should have enough keys because you select them in the menue when I understand the demo right?
