Hmm, Yoda, you're skinning at 256 aren't you? After starting to skin at 512 myself, I can tell that this skin would definitely benefit from the change to 512. It looks like it wants to look good but, the image size and not the artist is what is holding it back. The definition just doesn't work and the detailing isn't there for a 256 size. Besides this, what other colors are you going with? I think it could use a splash of color or an emblem somewhere on his chest to break up the monotity of the black. Good luck~ |

okay, watch this: yoda said: the regular marine just doesnt look... tough... with all those colors... meaning he wants it this dark right? then kain said: think it could use a splash of color or an emblem somewhere on his chest to break up the monotity of the black. you see what you are doing here kain? when people make such comments such as 'it needs more color' on any of YOUR skins, you get all pissed and like no, this is the way i meant it to be... thats why i do not understand thsi statement from you... i do agree with it though, it could use just that splash of color... but whatever, i think that would better go on the pads or something, the chest design is VERRY sexy as it is now... good job yoda! |

Yes, we all know that having two colors = ALL THOSE COLORS. You're pitifully grabbing straws here. Yoda is going to add more colors, we all know this and I know this. "All those colors" to me means a multitude of colors, adding a splash emblem requires one color, last time I checked a couple colors wouldn't equate to a skin having "all those colors." Don't be so quick to disprove me or show me up that you do something like this. It didn't work and it didn't contradict anything. Also, don't assume that you know what he wants, maybe he doesn't want it dark. For it not to have multiple colors doesn't mean that he wants it dark, it could mean that he wants it ALL YELLOW (which isn't the case, it's an example, obviously he chose black) with some RED in several places, this certainly wouldn't constitute a "multitude of colors" and it certainly wouldn't be dark. I know you're not dumb, and I know you'll see the truth of what I said. Quit jumping on my back, I understand what you're trying to get at. |

yes, sounds good for the moment ! :D follow this way for all the skin, it will be very nice ;) (and of course, skin on 512, more room to skin and such better quality ^_^) |

he said he wanted him to look tough... yellow isnt tough :\ i'm not trying to 'jump on your back' (ugh) i just want you to admid that you are capable of mistakes... you seem to find yourself sooooo goodamn leet... its incredible. but ur right, you know, i have this idea, lets just ignore eachother... i think i'd be for the best of the skinning forums. |

Oh geez, I can name a handful of skinner's who I think own me in many ways. Is that all you have to say after your whole statement you made in this post was totally defaced? I got nothing against you man, and I think your skins are great and look incredible, you've made amazing progress especially considering how new you are. You'll find that I don't say that a lot, because I'd rather focus on the negative aspects, because those are the more important things. Let's say that someone is constructing a building, let's say that the plumbing, wiring, the architecture, landscape are all beautiful and are 100% working order. Let's say you just comment on that and forget about the rest. You fail to mention that the foundation is totally cracked and that you'll be without a house in short order because of this structural flaw. I'd much rather be the person pointing out that flaw than the one pointing out the amazing architecture. Why can't I decide what I think is best for my skins? You may not like my comments, but why can I not like YOUR comments? In my eyes, your comments are just as offensive to me as mine may be offensive to you. For as many comments that I hate and don't use and may comment on, there are two or three that I comment on and that I love, and they make me open up that skin in photoshop right after reading them and go about making those changes that I see fit. I don't want to scare off comments from my skins, which it seems that I am, I encourage anyone to comment on them and I'll judge them from there, you may not like what I have to say in return or I may totally agree with you and wonder why the hell hadn't I noticed that. One of the problems I see is that some of the comment's are so terribly constructed that I go in there thinking "oh good." Maybe it's because you guys are so young for the most part (not saying that I'm old, just older than the average wc3c user) but I really have a hard time reading some of the things here. Nothing against Egg, but I really don't understand half of his statements because of the way he types; yet I'm sure that most of you could read it as if you wrote it. I'll be the first to admit that most of my skins suck, I can guarantee you that. |

okay.... before you rip each other to pieces im planning on having team color on the shoulders and some on the arms. I might up it to 512 but if i do I'm going to shrink it back to 256 before importing it into the map since it's already 2 mb although that will still carry over most of the quality of the 512 skin since it... does... stuff when it shrinks to make it look the same |

Very nice Marine so far. Most Marine skins turn out bad because people don't use a very high resolution for them, but this looks good so far. Nice shading effects. :D BTW, at first I was like, "What the hell?" when I saw all the blurry pixels. I'm one smart cookie. :\ |

I like what you have so far, I think you should do a little less black, and bring out the chrome a bit more. I'm into gothic skins, so the colour is good for me. And as for Kain and erwt, quit going off-topic would you before I have to spank you both. |

Very nice work Yoda... I like it! Go to 512 if you feel it will help you... and I hope you improve on the marine's face... the original face looks weird. I'm looking forward to a completed marine. icbm1987 |

Hey, I'm not the one who first dragged it off topic, I felt justified in defending myself though. Anyways, I think the details look terrible, and like I said it's not the artist's fault, but the image size. I can tell you want to put details in there, but it just doesn't work and ends up blurry (the pic should be taken from a farther distance) at the moment. It REALLY needs to be started over at 512, then you could put those details in and a ton more. May I ask what kind of texture it is? Is it supposed to be a metallic texture or more of a plastic look? If it's metallic I think you need to accent the light hitting it more, a lot more. Good luck, not many people try editing the Marine. I think you should checkout some of the Warhammer 40k units for some nice inspiration if you feel dry, some of them are pretty neat. |
