I need help with a reference trigger, and my new RPG/Campaign project info here

To all of my Lunatics: This is a preview of my next project, now that Insaniteus Cinematics is so popular. Oh, and Lunatics comes from Luna, Earth's Moon, which I own and hold gladiatorial games on. The Lunatics are fans who come to Lunas (the station name) to watch these games. (Ok, so I'm wierd. I've been writing the story of Insaniteus for 4 f#cking years now and I have ALOT of material. This all started with a game my friends set up which was basically Magic the Gathering only you design your own warriors)

To any noob who would try to steal this idea and claim it for his own: :gfu: You'll never do it as well I will, so don't waste your time!

Ok, to begin with, I'm making a new RPG/Campaign (sp) for the Undead. What makes this different from other campaigns is the fact that you will get all of your minions from corpses, and not usless gold (I'm sure the ghouls use it to buy toothbrushes at the supermarket lol)! You will be able to summon skeletal warriors, archers, and magi all at will (using esc to cycle through which you wish to summon). You will then be able to use magic gems like the Fire Ruby and the Lightning Topaz to imbue your warriors with elemental powers to make entirely new warriors. To top it all off, you will also use Deaths and Vampires once you befriend their respective leaders. I plan on custom voicing all three heroes and possibly even skinning them (I'm still fuggin around with photoshop, I only downloaded the shareware 2 days ago). The Death Hero and the Vampire Hero are both going to be modeled after characters in my fantasy game, so they will be truly detailed characters. The Necromancer Hero will be new (Hey, I wanted to start form scratch on the main character), but I plan on really expanding his base characteristics.

I set up a Poll now and I want to know what you Lunatics think of this idea. If you give a low rating, tell me why and what needs improved. Don't just say "Undead sux, Orcs own dem, do Orcs. skeletons are sissies" or some other retarded post.

Here is my first roadblock: I can't figure out a good way to invoke the tranformation from normal warrior to elemental warrior. At first I thought this was going to be easy, as I was just going to give item purge to the gems and use triggers etc, etc... The problem is that there is NO WAY to refer to the target of an item command. If you try to use target unit of issued order it won't work. Hell, I made it display the order string everytime any order is given, and items don't have strings!! There must be SOME way to figure this one out. I have a backup if I simply must use it which involves giving an ability to the normal warriors and only enabling it when the hero gets a gem, but this method will cause ALOT of bugs and will take forever to debug. Does anyone have any easier way to invoke a transformation (and you must have some method of refering to the specific unit to be transformed and the specific gem used, since you will have many of the same type in your army.)

PS: Putting unit abilities on items still give off no strings, so don't bother mentioning that idea. Putting item abilities on units give no strings either. Anyone who helps will be put in the credits (Hell, I may even let you kill Bill Gates like I did DanMage1 :ggani: ).

Also, If I could get a Modeler that's not doing anything else at the moment, I have an Idea for what I want the Death Hero to look like and all it'll really require is copy/pasting parts.

I want the Death Hero, Mortuskull, to be a skeletal Blademaster with blue flames on his head. You can do the head part by taking the Head from BurningArcher.mdl and pasting it over the blademaster's. Then all you need to do is change the flames to blue and make a skin with him wearing a leather jacket, leather jeans, skeletal hands and feet, and a more terrifying face than the existing one.

No shit that whoever helps me will be in the credits! If I knew jack about modeling I'd do this myself, but....:sweatdrop .

And to the guy who rated this a 1 and didn't say anything about it: :gfu: don't be a dick. If you think it will be that bad, at least have the guts to say why.

Sounds pretty cool it just getting it all together... It seems like a big project. Hows many maps will there be?

This is still in the "Planning and mechanics" stage. I really don't know how many maps I will make, but it'll probably be somewhere around 6-8. I'm still deciding what elements to include and what non-skeleton units to have (Vampires, Deaths, and Zombies are in. Still thinking on Ghosts, Ghouls, and Abominations). I've also been doing alot of thinking towards the stroyline and the character traits of the main characters. As of right now, there will be three heroes: Nekrix (The Supreme Necromancer), Kalandornyo (The Vampire God), and Mortuskull (The Death for all Deaths). I will be able to voice all three of these characters myself, and since two of them are old characters from my past I will have plenty of material for them. Alot of this campaign will be centered on the story, and alot of it will revolve around new and innovative ways to crush your opponets. I plan on running a strategy system where you are given choices for an attack and then you do it. I also plan on rewarding the player for completing certain tasks. One example is that killing an enemy with Death Coil will give you a Death to use rather than a corpse. Vampires spawn by getting the death blow on an enemy. If I put in Ghosts, they will have no attack and just the possession ability, allowing you the chance to own nearly any unit in the entire map (I haven't thought of a good cause for spawning them yet, though.) My Ideal for this game is for unit massers to get their @sses kicked, but for intellegent micromanagers to be able to command these extreamly different forces towards a victory.

Hell, alot of the fun will be the use of your skeletons, which you'll have at the begginging. To balance things, you only get one per corpse, but they last forever now. You can raise warriors, archers, and magi all from any corpse at will. Finding elemental gems will allow you to enhance one of your minions with all new powers. So far I have included Fire, Ice, Lightning, Poison (may remove, not strong enough), Earth, Holy, Dark, and Wind. These may get changed. The biggest sissy now is the poison guys, since I now know that slow poison, Poison sting, and Envenomed Weapons do NOT stack, and these guys do very little compared to the other guys right now.

I plan on implementing lots of puzzles and mini-game type parts to give some variance to the campaign, plus there will for damn sure be secrets in this baby! I can manage nearly everything in the campaign on my own, but I really would like to hear of a good way to upgrade a unit. Possibly something that has worked on other maps maybe?

Well, I have another idea for your trigger, but it needs some work. Rather than using an item, this uses a special unit (Like Water Transmanipulator as an example. It uses mana as a cooldown time too. Two tiggers here:

TRIGGER 1!!!!

EVENT
--------
A unit owned by player one aquires an item

CONDITON
--------------
Item type is equal to water gem

ACTION
---------
Remove last aquired item and create one Water Manipulator at position of triggering unit

TRIGGER 2!!!!

EVENTS
---------
A unit owned by Player 1 red is attacked

CONDITIONS
----------------
(Unit-type of (Attacking Unit)) Equal to Water Transmanipulator
(Unit-type of (Attacked Unit)) Equal to Skeleton Warrior
(Mana of (Attacking unit)) Equal to 100

ACTIONS
----------
Set mana of (Attacking Unit) to 0.00%
Special Effect - Create a special effect at (Position of attacked unit) using Abilities\Spells\Demon\ReviveDemon\ReviveDemon.mdl
Unit - Replace (attacked unit) with a water elemental using the old units relaive life and mana
Special Effect - Destory (Last created special effect)

You could kill the water transofming guy or, use the mana system so he lasts forever, but has to cooldown...

I like that Idea. I had thought about doing something like this before you even posted, and the reality is that this is probably the best possible idea for doing this. I can use Wisps as the magic gems easily, and I don't really need the whole cooldown thing since each gem is one shot only (like gems in Diablo II or something)

Unless someone comes up with a better way, this will be it! I've been working to balance the elements (aka giving Poison Guys Auras and stuff to strengthen them a bit, and lowering the life of the fire guys to weaken them a bit. Also, the Earth guys are meant to be heavy defense, but right now the don't real a damn thing! I'll lower their defense a bit.)

This brings up another question I have. Why can't I give Spiked Barricades to the Earth Skeletons? I researched it, and it works on Orc Buildings, but the ability isn't even visable on the skeles. I gave them the ability, set their armor to fortified (Building type), and copied the barracks with everything short of making them actual buildings and still nothing works. Is there some bug with Spiked barracades? If there is a bug or it just doesn't work for units I'm fine with it, since I can add the special effect of spikes and duplicate the damage returned using triggers with ease. I just wanted everything to be perfectly legit.

Also, if anyone has any abilities/traits for vampires, ghouls, or abominations you can post them here. Currently, Vampires will steal life per hit and convert anyone they get the death blow on into vampires as well. They are also unusable during the day, and they all run and hide. Abominations will be created in the ORINGINAL manor (aka, fuse 2 ghouls together to make one) and will probably be extreamly strong. To make ghouls more usefull I plan on giving them abilities (Which the abomination won't have) and I may also make the Abomination lose life per second until it dies (Where cheap micro managers can use death coil to keep them in the game forever, as long as they have the mana) Deaths and Ghosts are slated as one shotters right now, and won't need much else. Ghosts will possess, and Deaths will only be able to attack once, but DAMN will it be a whopper (Killing nearly any non-hero unit in one shot).

Well, that's the majority of what I've done so far. I'll never post any story elements, since I don't wanna spoil any of it.

-The Great and Immortal Lord Imperialist Insaniteus-
----------------------------Still need a modeler. I'll ask for one in the skins and Mods page.

Actually, I'm not 100% sure, but in the very early stages of W3 beta the Undead were based off this concept. They got all their power from raising dead. It would be cool to see this idea revisted because I think thats how UD should've been in the first place.

Hahaha, thats funny, I typed all that out and you already thought of it!

Anyways, spiked barracades is a building only ability.
I like your ideas so far. I say with the poison guy, use slow poison since the slowing makes up for the low damage comapred to any other elements.

Vampires need to leech life of course... I think they should also be able to use death pacth and dark ritual, although im pretty sure you can't give normal units hero abilities...

Ghouls really need to canabalize, be quick strike units that are much faster than they are now...

Abominations... hmm.... I dunno what they should do. They should like explode on death and do small damage to people nearby or something...

I thought of something cool just now. If like something with at least 700 HP falls to exactly 666 hp, their next hit will lower the guy they are attacking to like 10% of max HP, then the guy will lower to 665 hp so he cant do it a bunch of times. If the enemy is already at 10% or below, he dies instantly then. I dunno, just an idea.

I like that Idea. I plan on using several conditional bonuses like this. However, the only unit that currently has over 700 life is the Abomination. Maybe I'll make it so when a unit has less than 10% life he does double damage. Just a thought. For the Abomination I have set him as the ultimate melee unit, and I want it to be hard to keep more than two in your army at once. Ghouls will definatly have the speed advantage over other units! Ghouls will also leave corpses, so losing one won't be all THAT bad :gsmile: . I still need to think of some condition for summoning a ghoul. Vampires btw will be given at the start of the map once you befriend Kalandornyo, and if you lose them all you can't get more. They spawn by getting the death blow on enemy units, so it should be very hard to lose them ALL.

Maybe I'll make ghosts appear at random. Hell I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas right now. It'll be a month at least before I'll be done with even the first map. Oh, and zombies have their niche, as about the weakest of all undead since they are still parcially alive and decaying themselves to death. They are able to heal themselves with life steal and spawn from eating corpses, so I do have some plans for them though "Mwahahahaha!"

Oh, and all three poison guys have slow poison right now, but for a mage I needed some other spells. Disease cloud works with slow poison, so I gave them that too. Poison Magi having some auras should make them worth getting. I've spent alot of time lately working of the LOOK of the skeletons. I'm using heavy special effect attachments to make these guys obviously enchanted (aka the Burning Warrior is actually on fire etc. etc.)

Sounds great!

Just make sure not to make zombies like in all those other maps, where they have a speed of like 80 and 6 damage, while even a footman has like 300 speed.

Well, I have ideas for elemetal catagories:

Fire: Fire bolt, inner fire, rain of fire, searing arrows
Ice: Blizzard, frost nova, dark ritual (mabey), cold arrows
Water: Summon water ghoul (or something), critical strike
Earth: Earthquake (too strong i think), entangling roots, bash, thorns aura, warstomp, or shockwave
Poison: Slow poison, disease cloud, plauge ward
Thunder: Chain lightning, lightning shield, purge, thunder clap
Holy (yea, like udnead will use this...):Holy light, heal, abolish magic, ressurection
Shadow: Raise dead, curse, carrion swarm, animate dead

Eh, too many hero abilties probably, and they can't go onto normal units...

Oh well, that kind acatagorizes all/most abiltiies

Actually, you got more than half right on the unit abilities for the magi. Zombies will be slow, but not 80 lol. I'm thinking catapult speed at least! The Zombies are meant to be weak, but they will be fun to use when you have too. I think I should point out that the Paladin can raise dead as well. Nekrix will have a good laugh at it, but he will be able to make holy skeletons with Holy Diamonds. I've decided that there isn't enough Wind spells to make a mastery, so I'm replacing them with Nature Skeletons. The Nature magi will have entangling roots, force of nature, cyclone, and fairie fire. I haven't planned yet for the warriors and archers. The Earth mastery is mostly rock, defense, and muscle btw.

I was hoping to have some of my fans from Insaniteus Cinematics to at least read what my next project would be! This is really depressing. Oh well, maybe what I need is a rejuvenater! I am considering making a special Halloween Edition Trailor for Rise of Nekrix (Krill be damned, this is the best name for this campaign!). The problem is time, obviously, but I'll try to get it out by Halloween.

PS: Any feedback AT ALL from ANYONE is appreciated! I want this campaign to be the best in the world, but I can't do that unless I know exactly what you all want!

EDIT: This won't work. There is no way around it. With everything that I have to do for Halloween I'll never get this trailor done by then. Oh well... it doesn't look like anyone even cares about this project anyway. I thought it would be great, but....

Well, I guess I'll post something so you don't get depressed and quit playing/making on WarCraft 3. :gsmile:

It sounds like a cool idea (the whole undead eating ppl and stuff). I'll definently try it out when you got it done.

Oh BTW, if you want lots and lots fo people to read your thread make it sound like a very important topic, so everyone clicks on it.
