Ive been animating a model for a friend, in which i animated it first then applied the skin. but when i applied the skin, the body parts disconnected, so now in the animations there are holes all thru the model. Does anyone know what caused this and how it can be fixed? Thnx.

In user property editor set all mesh parts as "connected"

hope you dont use the skin modifier, as wc3 will no recognise it. You have to cut the model mesh into the parts you wish to attach to the bones (use the link option), then select all meshes after the linking and set under user property;connected

Ok...firstly im not stupid. I have ticked all of the connected button for the body parts, and have even tried to increase the connection length.
And yes i know skinning doesn't work so I broke the body up into like 10 parts for the upper and lower limbs etc.

I then animated it...and it was connected, then i applied the skin, and unwrapped, and now it isn't connected anymore. Any ideas?

well, the wc3 modding tools are notorious for messing stuff up pretty frequently. my advice would be to stop spending all of your time making models for an already over-modded game, get your self a programmer, and make your own shit. i mean really, come on!

Sure you didn't move any parts while unwrapping. Since if you so much as nudge one part of the model on the first frame it becomes unconnected so check your vertexes if they are close enough together. If that doesn't work try increasing the connection radius.

Lol... Um im only 17...starting uni next year and studying software engineering. For my mod im the programmer, but right now im animating models for others in exchange for helping me. And creating mods are a good way to get used to the game design industry. Well i think so anyway.

Anyway... no, i haven't changed the frames at frame 0. And the vertices are on each other, and the connection amount has been increased aswell. Who knows whats wrong.

Then it just might be some bug. Try to convert the whole thing to mesh again to get the unwrap modifier "merged" into the model. You never know with max.

You should supply some more info first, we didnt knew you already put connection on the user property window...

Anyways, you must have done something wrong

"I then animated it...and it was connected, then i applied the skin, and unwrapped, and now it isn't connected anymore. Any ideas?" -> problem is that some people recognise skin as animated skin thing, not the texture . Did you try collapse though after unwrapping?

If you still have problems show us the file in question and we will check whats wrong

Yea sorry, i should've provided more info. I guess everyones used to answering noobish questions, so when i ask sketchy questions, they will think its nooby aswell. Yea somethings wrong. im guessing that maybe i should've unwrapped first, then animated. I done that for my other model and it worked fine. Thanx for trying.

B.t.w. the model had to be changed so ive started again anyway.
