Is there anyway to get say, a heightmap, from the world editor or directly from a map file?

sorry, guess i wasnt very clear

say ive made a map in the editor, is theyre anyway i can export through the editor, or a tool that would extract all the height data from the map?

preferably into a heightmap, though an array or such of heights would work too.

a heightmap is a greyscale image, where black is the lowest possible height, and white is the highest. therefore you use every grey color in between to define a landscape.

i dont know anything about the map format, so im not sure how warcraft III stores and retrieves the values to displace the terrain plane on runtime, though id assume it would be in some form of an array of heights.
