First off I was told to tell you that I was sent by Doca-Cola and with that I wouldnt be spammed out of here with hate posts, I am trying to learn how to make maps and this editor just confuses the HELL out of me. I used to make maps on Starcraft but Frozen Thrones map editor system seems impossibly hard to use, can anyone help me?

They are pretty much the same, what do you need help with? Triggers, terrain, what? ^_^

Here's what you should know to start making basic melee maps:

Dont mess with the triggers, it's already set for melee.
There are 5 palettes: Terrains, Doodads, Units, Regions and Camera. You can access them from the Layer menu at the top of the screen.

Texture: To apply texture open the Terrain palette and choose which tile style you want in the first section (apply textyre). Then choose the size and shape at the bottom of the palette. Click on the screen and voila. To unselect press space bar. This works in all palettes.

To add doodads go to the doodads go to the doodad palette. Pick which tileset you want in the 2nd drop down menu (Barrens, Ashenvale, etc). Then pick which category you want. The categories are self explanatory except for pathing blockers. Line blockers does not allow units to see pass it and movement blockers does not allow units to move over it.

To add units go to the unit palette. Choose for whom you want to give the units to, then which race of units you want to use. In the other drop down menu, Melee is for units available in a regular game, campaign is for units only available in the camapaigns and custom are for your own custom units. If you choose neutral as the race you have to choose from which tileset you want to put units from. To put units just click on the map. To unselect press space.

Thats all you really need to know in order to make a melee map.

Well, first off, variables and arrays are your friends. You can do almost anything with triggers if you use variables. Just use logic, one tip is to sound out your triggers and see if they make sense. If they sound wrong, then you know theres some sort of lapse. GUI triggers is just JASS put in a nice user-friendly format so you don't have to remember all the functions. Also, try to remember some key things that people often forget. One thing that I see most often screwed up is people substitute "killing unit" or "killed unit" for "triggering unit". Thats a no-no, that often breaks triggers. Also, you shouldn't use "Map Initialization" for many triggers because it breaks many of them.

Also, always try to find a simpler way to do something via triggers. Being good with triggers is about finding a simple way to do something. Sure, any n00b (me) can do anything using a 40 line long trigger than uses 15 variables but being a good triggerer is about being able to do the same thing (or more) with only about 10 lines and 3 variables.

If theres anything specific you need help with, just post here and I'll try to answer any questions. :D

Edit: Also, try something on your own before refering to the forums. I'm specifically refering to import problems. 70% of model/skin problems can be solved by converting the skin to MDL, finding the path that the skin goes to, then putting the skin at that path. The other 30% is people screwing up alpha channels or something. Never forget those alpha channels. ;)

Like Doca said, I am 100% totally clueless on this. I need every bit of help I can get, Pyrus i'm aiming to make some custom maps and I know all that basic stuff (except camera) from the Starcraft editor. Mainly I need help with triggers anyone have any good sites they learned off of or could post a nice summary of the basics It would be appreciated. Or a nice summary of how to work the terrain would also be appreciated.
