How to make really deep water?

Is there anyway to make really deep/dark water in WE for the Icecrown tileset?

Let's say you use the Deep Water tool, and now the water level is:

....___..... (. = terrain - = water)

Use the lower tool to make it even more deep.

That would be the main part, now go: Scenario >> Map Options and select use water tining color, set that do very dark blue, almost black and it should look deep and dark.

Well, the Water Tinting-thing tints all water on the map...
Is there any way to have differently coloured patches of water in the same map?

I don't think you're able to have more than one water tinting color on one map, but who knows, maybe some future version of UMSWE etc will have that feature.. let's just hope for the best, shalln't we? :>

ive tried tinting it, it still looks really clear, 4 cliff levals deep, and i could still see right through it :\ . out of interest what happens if you make a map ueing the WEU enhancer, with multiple cliff tiles, as in how would WE know which water effect to apply?

I'm guessing it would probably use the water tinting of the base tileset that you picked first even though you added other tilesets to it.

dont forget that the water bottum also uses a texture ... using an dark one will surely help out a bit ...

some other tricky idea: create a custom smoke smudge and change maximum scale to 10 or something and the minimum to 1 ... than place it, select it and press page down some seconds to set the high to the minimum than press pos1 to enlarge the x and y scale untill it fits to your water size ...

i know this will not allways work. (if the water is no circle for ex)
alternatly you could place multiply smoke smudges but they can overload the map if you try to fill the whole water ground with normal sized ones ... i think you know what i mean ...

i never did it but it might work if you try it :D

First off thanks for the comments.
The smoke smudge technique doesnt look all too nice, as it is a large lake im making.
I want to have a murky, bottomless lake in the icecrown tileset and i need all the tiles so i cant replace it. Water tinting wont help cause its only the lake i want to be murky.

This probably won't look nice either but flattening a waterfall that you tint dark would kind of make it look like water, except that it is moving like a waterfall/river. Maybe try getting some other doodad to flatten and tinting that and placing it on the water.

isnt there a shadow model somwhwere, as in a large saquare of shadow. you could just lower a lot of those

I'm not quite sure what effect you are aiming for, but it is also possible to change the tint of the water. If you are not familiar with this, let me walk you through it.

Steps:
-Open WE
-Load Map
-Hover over 'Scenario' and click on 'Map Options'
-A new window will appear. Look all the way to the bottom.
-Above 'Game Data Set' there should be a little check-box and grey mini-window.
-Click on the little check box to access the Water Tinting.

I'm finding this to a really great and simple effect for my newest map, Dead Lands. The map is very much similar to Resident Evil. I made the water Dark Red and created a rotating cinematic around the water located in the city that tells us the 'Even the water has turn to blood'. Of course you can apply other effects to this. Then again, I'm not quite sure what kind of effect you are aiming for, but I hope you get what you want! =P

Thanks for the effort, however water tinting tints all the water in the map; I only want a certain lake to look dark.

Well, I think I figured it out for ya man. You know how units have shadows and all well... I made an air unit have a shadow relatively large. Then just place a bunch of them in the same area with no collision and the shadows together make the ground darker and darker. And in game you can make a trigger to change the tinting of the air units to make them dissapear or simply change the file path to a custom path of a space. Attached is the map so you can see how I did it. The only problem I could see is that it would have to be a relatively circular lake or else you would have to do multiple areas of the shadows. Hope this helps...

It does get the desired effect, however all "islands" in the lake will be black. That and the fact that it has to be a circle lake are the only limitations i see.
I will keep it in mind.
