my first posted terrain.. suggestions?

this is beginning of my map coming out called Red Sands i am starting from scratch and i made an oasis, or attempted, terrain is not my strong area, plz tell me what u think. keep in mind this is supposed to be an oasis in the middle of a desert and is not supposed to look too green.

Um, it's okay... you have a serious lack of doodads. Add some plants or cactuses, or even trees.
You also need fog.
And sky, if you don't have it.

for an oasis in barrens very nice, you could add a little more tile varation, make that island in the iddle a tiny bit bigger and smooth it out, maby add some more doodads, like a couple of rcok pillars, some cactii, ect. but very nice so far :D

It would look nicer if you used the raise/lower terrain tool to both create the oasis and to give the terrain a little bit of variation in hight on the nearby land. You might also git rid of the grass underwater, and add fog and water tinting.

Looks fairly nice anyways.

Looks nice, add surroundings though, and smooth the edges down to the water, add some doodads and variate the tiles, also; as said, ad fog, and sky aswell, then it will look better.
I give it 4/5 because it's after all your first posted terrain.

These are pics of my oasis after 45 min of work after reading suggestions, it still needs fog, sky and tile variation but doodads sounded ezier for me to fix. tell me what u think for my second posting of oasis... last one is nice for comparison

very creative and i can tell your new to terraining, the trick for water is having it all low water then rasing it. Otherwise i'd suggest having some bigger trees, more shrubs, maybe even some shrubs in the water that are tinted terqious, and don't worry if you make terrain that takes a long time. I find myself spending like a week to a couple hours working on a nice piece of terrain.

ya i do remember cause sever was gonna help me make red sands after we made footy race, we had some skinning and terrain done but i lost it. my comp crashed and i had to rebuild it from scratch. did u gyz ever finish the footman race?? and do u know what happened to sever?? oh and ty for criticisim i am going to rm this because i origionally didnt want the cliff look in my oasis but i forgot to start wit a nice water lvl
