3ds max 4.26 animating...

i use 3ds max 4.26 and not 5, i had some qs abt aniamting:
1. there are many types of animating styles... using skin modifier wid bones and the rest but is the connect method (the one where u detach parts of a mesh and put connected in the user property editor) the only 1 wich blizzard art tools supports, if there are others plz tell me!!!
2. Wich animating method did blizzard use for their units like the pandaren brewmaster, the connect method looks a bit too simple for the complicated animations on the brewmaster. also did they use dynamics for the brewmasters cape cause how can it keep going back when his foot goes onto it...
3. Wont it b much easier if some modeler from blizzard makes a long long long long, sorry, long tutorial for making a unit like that, the warcraft III simple unit is too simple i think!!!
