If you have any trouble with the FPS Mod, post your question here and we'll try to answer it the best we can. Before you post, please make sure you downloaded the SDK sometime in July or later. If you downloaded the SDK before July, you will be pleasantly surprised to find many improvements in the documentation and organization. Please also try looking at the latest version of the documentation, always located at http://fps.wc3campaigns.com |

I can't get the control program to work period. And what is that W3Ereader for? |

Omg! You posted! I am so happy! Well, anyway, it may be superstition but I sorta noticed that if I save the map, test map, then load the FPSControl, it does have a higher chance of working. It seems to work for me... but is there some rationale behind that or just some dumb speculation. Well, it sure is nice to see you guys post, like the end of a sad sad story :( So there's no multiplayer at all? I guess the lag would be intolerable... well might as well not waste time on something that wouldn't succeed I guess... Well, the maps are beautiful. Glad that they're now released! |

Stoned did have a working version of 2 players, hence all that Server IP stuff that's disabled in the current control program. It was laggy though unless both users had broadband. This is how it worked from my memory. Both players would load up the map in single player, not from B.net. The program would serve as an interface that would "tell" the map what the other player did. So in effect, the local player would always be player 1 and the "opponent's" movements and actions would be controlled through triggers. Something like that. Pretty clever I have to say, but laggy. Ok, the E-Reader is a program that takes a .W3E file and converts it into an array of points that ran be handled by triggers. A .W3E file is just a list of gridpoints that make up the map's terrain. So what's this for? Since you have all the points in a map, you can pass this into a function that would convert that point into a height. So in short, the program helps you figure out the height of any point on a map. That's how we got the 3D shooting done and some other stuff. |

Can you have him reput that multiplayer thing in because I mean there are a lot of people with broadband and that would be really fun. Is local area network possible as well? |

It was made before TFT came out. There may be a chance that something in the engine discouraged him from turning that feature back on. |

Could he possibly try to fix it? |

Getting him to give me the old maps is already tough enough. I think he's finished with working with that program. If he's going to touch it, he would be more likeley to rewrite the whole thing instead. So in a nutshell, it probably isn't going to happen. |

Why doesn't he want to give you the old maps? o and I am still having trouble, first I run the FPS Control program and it finds a file then I go back to the game and press tab, and nothing happens, then I run tsearch and it find a file, I go back to game and press tab and, nothing happens, then I use that Hackit thing that someone posted and it finds a file and I press tab ingame and, nothing happens, can you help please! O and do you have to run the control program while its still on the loading screen or while its already ingame? |

You run it after the map has started. |

ok I thought so but do you know how to help with my problem because I haven't been able to get it to work. |

A few debug questions: 1) When you run debug or hackit, you have to paste the memory location you find into the FPSControl window...then press tab 2) If the first memory location tsearch finds isn't working, that means it's a false positive, and tsearch should have returned multiple memory locations, try all of them. |

Hmmm yah something I've kept forgetting to ask. Where exactly is the CamZAdjust function? Or the custom script section for that matter? I searched the entire GUI trigger list and can't can't find the GetHeight(...) + 100 part or the CamZAdjust function. I've never actually touched custom scripting in my entire life apart from minor editing, so if it's something really obvious, please forgive me. Part of the reason why BM Mod has pure flat terrain is because I use a fake height map to make the camera higher (the other half is because my terraining naturally sucks). Thanks for any help. |

Well I am going to be making two FPS Mod Projects and one is going to be a futuristic thing were you pilot a mech and the other is going to medieval fantasy type setting. But before I start I want to ask you something, I herd that you need UMSWE to save a FPS map, is that true? cause if so I will want to go and download UMSWE before I start. and if ant can't figure out that height thing I probably can't do it either because I never do much custom scripting. Well I hope I can get my questions answered. |

UMSWE? Never did use it (ever). Perhaps that's why I can't find the custom scripting section. Well, it's not required for FPS Mod. That's all I can say. |
