I am working on a campaign that I don't believe has been thought of before. It is set in the world of Middle-Earth, only not during the time of the Lord of the Rings. I want to cover the journey of Isuldur and his companions to Mordor and Mount Doom. Because most of the adventure is not told in any book, I will be improvising to the best of my abilities. I am a skilled map maker, and will be doing most of the maps myself. The campaign will consist of about 15-20 maps, including ~5 cinematic maps, and possibly some CG footage, if I can get ahold of the person that will do it. If not, I can always stick some movie footage, of what is covered of Isuldur's journey, into the maps. I will be needing a skilled modeller and/or skinner, someone that's good with JASS/AI, and a secondary mapper. If you are interested, please reply to this thread, though I would appreciate it if you would rather e-mail me at [email protected] instead. Thanks. |

Of course Isuldur dies, but this campaign is just a prologue to the campaign I am working on, the War of the Fates, which covers most of the history of Middle-Earth. At the end of this campaign, it will unlock the journey of Bilbo and his friends to the Lonely Mountain, and at the end of that campaign, will unlock the Lord of the Rings campaign. So this is just the first part I'm working on atm, I will need help on the rest later. |

He is setting this back in the time of the last alliance. I think it sounds awsome! |

I think this is the campaign everyone has been waiting for, that no one, as of yet, has attempted. It will consume much of my time, though I am willing to make this, if it means my name will go on the first campaign of this type. If you, or anyone you know, would be willing to help me on this, please contact me either here, at my e-mail ([email protected]), or at WC3sear.ch under this same username. Any help would be appreciated, no matter what you're skilled at. |

That is Morgoth of Agmar, otherwise known as the Witch King. In the Return of the King he is killed by Eowyn after marching his troops out of Minas Morgul into battle with Minas Tirith. When Sauron rose to power, Morgoth was no longer in such a high position. -Edit- My bad, I was wrong. Morgoth was the 'incarnation of evil itself', as described in the History of Middle Earth. Sauron was a high ranking officer in his army. When Sauron's greed for power overwhelmed him, he overthrew Morgoth on the brink of war and hid in Middle Earth, in the tower of Dol Guldur, Mirkwood (I think). When he realized it was safe, he retreated to Mordor and began construction of Barad-Dur. The Witch King's name is given somewhere, though I can't remember it. |

You sound very ambitious and I wish you luck on your project Being a Tolkien buff, here's a few things: First, in the book Unfinished Tales there's a chapter, Disaster of the Gladden Fields, which describes Isildur his heir and the whole battle (which is quite interesting) which led to him losing the ring. You really should read it, it will give you lots of ideas. Second, you're wrong about Morgoth. Morgoth was the greatest of the valar (spiritual beings like angels). Morgoth rebelled against Illuvatar's plans wishing to rule by himself. When the valar came to Arda (earth) they took physical shapes that matched their personality (hence morgoth is scary b/c he's evil b/c he now wishes to destroy or deform anything Illuvatar creates). Morgoth is very powerful. The silmarillion is basically a collection of stories relating his increasing domination of Middle Earth (the good Valar and non-cursed elves dwell on Valinor far away from Middle Earth). Morgoth wins basically but is ultimately defeated when the Valar return to vanquish the evil and forgive the rebellious elves (Feanor in his pride led them away from Valinor). So Morgoth is banished to the void until the end when there will be a reckoning. IMPORTANT PART: Sauron was Morgoth's greatest Lieutenant, however he was not so great by ancient standards: a great elf such as Feanor could have bested him. He too is a spiritual being but one of lesser power. After Morgoth is defeated Sauron flees and then takes up power for himself. Sauron does not overthrow Morgoth, he is much weaker than Morgoth, especially at this point. The Valar leave Middle Earth and Sauron takes over. He conquers almost everything when the Numenorean's come to the rescue. (Numenor is an island given to the descendants of the man Elros, brother of Elrond...yes he chose the life of a man over an elf. Their parents helped save Middle Earth from Morgoth by entreating the Valar, and were a man and an elf-lady). The Numenoreans and their great navy totally wipe out Sauron. This is the FIRST TIME Sauron is DEFEATED. Sauron, in the shape of an old man, is brought before the King of Numenor where he begs for mercy offering his powers in return and the Numenoreans with their lust for power accept. Sauron corrupts them over hundreds of years into worshipping Melkor the "true" god and attacking Valinor. At this time the Balrog appears in Moria. Illuvatar creates some kind of vortex which wipes out all of Numenor and the rebellious men. This is the SECOND TIME Sauron is DEFEATED. A few loyal men escape to Middle Earth, they are Aragorn's lineage. Sauron helps men and dwarves create rings and makes the One Ring. They are deceived and nazgul come into being. This is the time of the Last Alliance, when Isildur is alive and Sauron is DEFEATED for the THIRD TIME. After this is when Sauron flees to Mirkwood. This is why Mirkwood is so evil in The Hobbit. The White Council (Wizards and Co.) drives Sauron out of Dol Guldor at some point and he goes into Mordor. This is another small defeat to Sauron. Everyone knows the LOTR story so i won't tell it but Sauron is DEFEATED for the FOURTH and FINAL TIME. As you can see, Sauron while dark, evil and powerful, is a loser, Morgoth was much greater. I hope this gives u a desire to read more, good luck! |
