Ok some tips on water... hmm... well I'll get some quick screenies up for you then :D First off, my personal reccomendation is to put things, land or water, into what you want the deepest depth. I'll explain that in a second. Pic 1- I shallowed out the water. surrounding where I want a spire to be, jutting out. Pic 2- I used the "height" change in the terrain formation to raise an area in the shallow water. Now see the nice thing is, you don't have to deal with messy ramps and such to connection above water terrain, to underwater terrain. It's cheating in my book ^_^ Regarding waterfalls now.. I'd suggest to use multiple instances of the "waterfall" doodad. The regular waterfall doodad alone is very small and thinned out, not giving a real waterfall justice. So in most cases I'll try to increase the scale on it, and apply the waterfall multiple times.. Spice it up with some rocks jutting out of the waterfall too, maybe some water vegetation :D |

also if you want to do waterfalls it doesnt look good if you make to different levels and than just make them, water ... that leaves unnatural cliffs ... you can hide tem with rock spires for example... also a realy cool effect for rivers i shortly discovered: to make a river look like flowing fast you just paste some waterfalls in it and lower them down untill the main modell is hiden under the water. the tciky thing about it is that you will still see these effects making it look like fast running water ... i cant discribe what it looks like in english just try it out and you'll see its nice... |
