First of, this is the working name. If you have a better one then please post it here after reading the story. This campaign is set 100 years after TFT. So all the heroes we know of (Thrall; Jaina; Kael; Illidan... etc) are dead. New heroes and villains now arise to replace them. Twenty years after the Lich King's rise to power. The Scarlet Crusade succeeded in their ambitious mission. To free Lordaeron of the Forsaken. The Forsaken had nowhere to flee but to Durotar under the relative safety of the Horde. The Undead Scourge then attempted a second invasion of the world. Which ended in its undoing. The Lich King had been slain at Icecrown when the Alliance's armies -- the Kaldoreis, Dwarves, Gnomes and Men -- assaulted his fortress. Fifty years later, Lady Jaina Proudmoore and Warchief Thrall died. With the two monarch's death. The old hatreds between Men and Orcs rose up once again. And the Armies of the Alliance launched a daring invasion of Durotar attempting to destroy the Horde for good. With Thrall's death, the Orcs once again embraced their old Demonic Powers and the Forsaken who grew larger in numbers with each passing day. Taught the Orcs the dark art of Necromancy. The Tauren, seeing the Orcs transformation into savage brutes, left the Horde and hid in Mulgore. Their current whereabouts are unknown. Now, the Horde and the Alliance once again battle for Azeroth. But from the Twisting Nether comes an ancient and forgotten threat. The Outlanders -- Blood Elves; Nagas and Draneis -- are charging in back in the world of Azeroth through the Dark Portal in the hopes of gaining their revenge on the races of Azeroth. Warcraft IV: Back to War This campaign will have three factions: The Alliance Made of Men, Dwarves, Gnomes and Night Elves. They use Druidic and Holy Light mystical powers. Their units will be the fastest of the game, but they will suffer from weak units. Their magics will be reasonably good. The Horde Made of Orcs, Undead, Jungle Trolls and Ogres. They will use Warlock and Necromantic powers. The Horde will enjoy the strongest units of the game, but will suffer from a bit of slowness. Magics are like the Alliance, reasonably good. Outlanders. Made of Blood Elves, Draneis and Nagas. They will use various types of magics. Mixed from Warlock/Arcane/Water and shaman. They will enjoy the best mystical powers of the game. But will suffer from weakness. Speed is rather reasonable. Differences to Warcraft III: -Heroes may not revive. -Considerably larger armies. This is an army based game, not a hero based one. Very much like in Warcraft I and II. -New spell upgrade system that works like in Wc II where you can purchase any spell you want at any time. -Heroes are much weaker. -The game itself will have a feel from the former warcraft games. -The mod won't be separated in three campaigns like in Wc III. It will be ONE campaign. But in this single campaign then you get to play with all factions. Very much like in Age of Mythology. What has been done already: -The tech tree for all three factions is done. -New skins -New models -New icons -Custom music -The object editing for the three factions is about 80% done. Only a few minor bugs to check for. -Storyline is 95% done. -Campaign Script is still under development. However the first few missions have been decided on and the main plot has been decided on as well. Need any help? Yup, -A skinner would be most welcome for very few skins to do. Only some that I did not find at the download section or couldn't do myself. -A modeler, that wouldn't be a pure modeler. Just for geo-merging and anims transfer. -A mapper or two to help me with the maps. What kind of help are you looking for? I am NOT looking for the BEST mappers/skinners around (they usually annoy me because they're better then me). I don't mind if you're a rookie. There is only ONE thing I am looking for in my team mates: dedication. I don't want them to run away and stop answering my Emails in he first week of the mapping. If you're devoted to the project, then you're welcome to join. However, if you're already in like 20 projects. Then don't bother joining. You'll just waste my time. You don't have to be the best in your line to join. But you must be able to work well though. I'm not asking for pros. But that is not an invition for people who have only skinned/terrained twice in their life to come and join while not even knowing where the tools are. Whats the team? Skinner: Me Mapper: Archean Triggerer: I Cinematics: *raises hand* Race designer: Aye! Modeler: The Request forum If you have any suggestions. Then please post them. Any idea for a new name? Post! Wanna join? Post! Well you get the point. -Archean --edit-- the story was done fairly quickly. So its not very detailed. Expect a better detailed one soon enough. |

This looks really cool. It seems like it is well on its way. I'd help for terraining but am already on 3 projects, I'll see how stuff goes maybe it'll free up. DeSty |

Thanks to Hell-Bovine for the models and I can't remember who did the Brute skin. I'll post who it was when I remember. The Brute is the tier one melee unit of the Horde. The Warlord is going to be the main hero of the Horde campaign-part. --EDIT-- Brute skin by Rommel |

Sounds interesting. A nice idea, I'd play it, but it will not make sense if and when Blizzard makes a sequel to TFT. The way they leave it on such a cliffhanger tells us that we can expect to see something more. Still, a good idea for a mod to explain the story until such a sequel appears. Keep up the good work. |

Well, knowing Blizzard. There won't be a sequel to Warcraft III in like 6 years from now. Besides, this won't really mess up the sequel in question since it happens a 100 years later. And if the worse comes to the worse, then I can change the background story. |

Keep in mind that this skin was made in 10 mins. So there's really nothing special about it. I will however do a better one in future. |

Like I said, this history is rather foggy around the edges, there will be a new one soon with more details. |

The Swordsman model I found in the model gallery. I can't remember exactly who had submitted it. But from what I've heard it was taken from WoW. So I doubt that it if of such importance to give him credits. However, if anyone knows who he is, then please say so in the thread. I don't want to appear like I'm stealing things. The Spearman was a gift from John_Drake of Realm Design. Much thanks to him. --EDIT-- Swordsman model by Hadeniaz, and even though he doesn't want me to give him credits. Thanks to Armel for the corpse when he dies. |

This is the Druid of the Wilds. The Alliance advanced spellcaster. |

A few things to get you some information on the project. Back to War Design Document MUSIC First of, I won't be using any Warcraft III soundtracks. They were all very nice at the beginning, but now I suppose that everyone is fed up with them. I have already found many great soundtracks to use for the campaign, and each race will have its own collection of music. There will be however no such things as RnB, Rap or that kind of crap. I'm talking about music here, not noise. STORY The story as you should know by now (if you still don't then I don't know what to do with you) is happening one hundred years after The Frozen Throne. The Horde is once again on the move. The Outlander return to Azeroth. And the Alliance marches to war once again. The whole plot for the campaign has been decided on, and you can be sure that it will be filled with many twists and surprises. This won't be a simple campaign, it will be a tale filled with emotional undertones. Expect sorrow, anguish, joy... etc. CAMPAIGNS There will be a single campaign made of many levels. The campaign will be divided into three parts. The Horde, followed by the Outlanders, and completed by the Alliance. Each campaign part will have its own heroes that you will control through the war. And eventually, fight with a new faction. In addition, the campaign will be filled with secret levels that can only be unlocked by completing certain quests or acquiring certain items. Expect many easter eggs over the maps. HEROES Since this is happening one hundred years later. New heroes and villains arise to lead great armies into epic battles, to achieve the most heroic acts imaginable and revel in glorious slaughter. Each campaign part, will have its own hero that you will control while you are in command of the corresponding faction. Until you switch factions and fight your former heroes to the death. ART Every single units will have a new skin. Even if the skin only changes some minor aspects of the unit, it will have a new skin. There will be plenty of new models for units, buildings and doodads. I am also working on a new tileset for Azeroth. We are all tired of using the same 'Lordaeron Summer' tileset for Azeroth maps. GAMEPLAY The Warcraft III balancing system has been changed entirely to fit in my new system. If you have played Warcraft I and II. Then you would know that equivalent units had the same stats as each other. eg) Orc Grunt = Human Footman. Well, I have nearly recreated this for Back to War. Except that there will be a minor extent of balancing. Horde units will enjoy the strongest (damage, hp) units, but will suffer from slowness (attack rate, movement) and have moderate magics (mana amount, spell mana cost). The Alliance will benefit from speed, will suffer from weakness and also have moderate magics. The Outlanders will enjoy the most powerful magics, suffer from weakness and have moderate speed. LOCATION The whole campaign will be happening in Azeroth (the country). There will be no traveling around the world and all that. It will be 100% Azeroth. Even though the Horde will come from Durotar, you won't see it. And even though the Outlanders are from Draneor, you won't see it either. DEMO Right now, I have all the models and skins that are required for a short demo. I need to go over the object editing, check for the balancing system and also, obviously to finish the first few maps. So don't expect it to be here too soon. Since I still haven't finished with the Azeroth tileset. RELEASE DATE I won't even bother answering that. CREEPS AND NEUTRAL HEROES There will be new creeps for Azeroth. All with new skins, some with new models. That I am sure of. I have already done a selection of them. As for Neutral Heroes, I seriously doubt it (take that as a 'no!'). |

You really seem to know what your doing. Few questions: 1st: Do you know how to unwrap model's? 2nd: If you know, which program you use? 3rd: Do you need modellers (no old model editing)? |
| 06-23-2004, 02:37 PM | #13 |
1: No 2: None 3: Yes I do need modelers. Only for a few minor geomerges for units and buildings and animation transfers. Very much like the Orc Brute and the Warlord. Those are good examples of what I need. |

That's really sorry, 'coz I just make tottaly new model's. But the idea sounds very good. I wish you luck. (But new model's for the building's would be nice ;) ..) |
| 06-23-2004, 02:48 PM | #15 |
I really don't need models made from scratch for units. However, I may call on you for buildings. Especially Outlanders. |
