Anyone got any good ideas how to make some decent Human city style walls? Like stone walls? Premade doodads that ARE stone walls would be nice, but if I can take an existing doodad and do like Gitlich does with barrels, that'd be really cool. |

ive seen a nice effect useing barracks (i think it was in CoTD), so it appears you have walls with towers at intervals along them, but as the barracks are not designed to be made into walls, unless you cover up the space behind them with soemthing, the look like very very very thick walls, there are other trocsk, or you could look in the DL section for a variaty of huamn walls packs tha_chump has made a very nice set of minas tirith walls up for DL i think. and just to clarify, the barrles trick wasnt my idea, in fact its a lot older than i am (in terms of how long ive been playing WC3). i think it was origoanly used by either Beam or Pheonix IV, but dont quote me on that |

The first time I saw the barrels trick was one of Beams screenshoots. A techinque which I stole directly :P |

Archean, I've already tried those. They're really nice, but difficult to use.. I'm not too good at importing, but I unzipped the files into a folder. Imported them. Changed custom path in import. Went to make a custom destructible, set pathing to Curvewall.tga, set model file as Curvewall.mdx. Went to paste the doodad, and get a big green and black box... What did I do wrong? |

Ah, and I tried the Barracks idea, and it's an neat idea, but it won't work, since all the Barrack's doors face the way of the gate. Why would you have 50 gates on a wall?! o_O |

check the paths in the map where you downloaded them. Check if they're the same. Because I really have no idea what you did wrong. |

GRR. Nope, Git, it didn't work. I went and took the map (Lordwall) that came with that Wall pack, and copied the exact doodads. They only paste the right one every 1 in 5 times, and they're HUGE when they do paste correctly... Grr. And Gitlich, so you know, this terrain is for the campaign me and John are working on.. |

By paste, I mean I go to the map that came with the Wall Pack, and copy the destructibles from the Object Editor, then go back to my map, and paste them into destructibles. It KIND of works, but it's really irritating to have to flip through 5 different doodads (2 from Northrend, 2 from Lord. summer, 1 is the brick wall) to get to the one I want. |

have you tried exporting the mdels from the map useing the import manager, then importing them into the map you want? |

Let me try that.. |

ahhhhh those are a pain in the ass to get to work :< you can do wut i did, first open the map it came with, open the import manager, take a screen of the paths, open paint, hit crtl +v, or jus paste it, now in ur map import all the files u need, give them the paths, then close WE, open WE again, this is the tricky part, if u want them walkable u can do two things, one do it like ur soposed to, or my ez way. my way is make 7 or 8 custom footswiches, the change the models to the walls. set the pathing to none or mushroom. now u can place them and there walkable, NOTE!! they pop very easily in cinematic form, if u need to see them in cinematic form then let me know ill show you how. that should do it, hope this helps :D |
