Triggers to change the universe

I was wondering why we dont have many doodad triggers. Wouldn't it be nice to have a "pick every doodad" and so on. Would be neat if you could edit terrain with triggers too. Could make complete map changes and someone really skilled could prolly do something neat like 5 dungeons in the same area all with their own units/terrain/doodads.

I just discovered cinematics so i'm having fun, but still would be neat eh? In my new map a dragon rips up a village in the beginning, and when the game starts you can head on down there if you want and it will be undeady instead of the nice village. If i could replace rocks with skulls and flowers with heads and so on, it would be nice.

Think Battle.net or another will make an advanced (but still simple-ish) editor someday?

P.S. New maps coming along fine, finished intro movie. Showed 8 people, all of them gave me a 10/10 and forced me to add them to buddy list :>

You could do everything you wanted to with the doodads, it just takes time...

Since you can only deal with destructibles and not doodads, make a different destructible for each doodad look-a-like that you want. Then simply replace/kill/remove/create during game whatever you want.

As for editing terrain and what not, I don't know how to do any of that myself, but I know of maps that modify height and make the terrain look like it does after a mortar team missle hits it.

The reason these functions are not built into the editor is that it takes a lot of CPU power to do these things. Even if we were given the ability to make these things, it would not work very well. It's kinda like using silverware instead of plain stainless steel cutlery. Nice, fancy, but they sure as hell ain't practical.

you can create doodads using non destructible destructibles, you can create cliffs using elevators, and if you need to change the terrain to can use terrain deformation, for tile change your only change is blight or probably a square model with a texture
