Join the next big ORPG

II will guarentee that this map will be the next big thing on bnet. It will be hosted as much as ffopen and dota. This is a bold statement, yes, but if you work with me, we'll do this right.

Background, truth be told, ffopen opened me to ORPGs on wc. From there on, i started tinkering with worldeditor specially on ORPGs, before this i worked on perfecting and balancing other maps.

What joining my team can offer you:

Great work with a strong collective of teammates.
Working on a map that will be played frequently on bnet.
Constant work, this map will never have a final version.
Making strong friends in the process.

I'm very much for having everyone in the team have a say. We are a team, not just everyone working on a preset idea of the map.

Ok, so what about the map???

Extensive leveling system.
Hundreds of unique items.
50+ bosses
Right now, there 9 unique races to start with, plans for another 3.
save for characters

Main thing about this map is that it will be 100% balanced.

EDIT: More info about the map. Don't want to give too much away, but here's a little info how this map is going to work.

First you pick your race, human, beast, spirit, elemental, elf, undead. From there, each race can transform into unique classes. There will be no points to pump into like a normal hero, instead when you kill monster, you get it's soul. Depending on the soul, it will transform your character into a new class/job. Each soul will have a level requirement. Also, certain zones will have a level requirement. For example, a lvl 1 human kills a bandit (a low level mob), he gets his soul and uses it, bam, he changes into a bandit! Higher level souls will change you into more powerful classes. Also, high end classes will have pre req's. EXAMPLE: a bandit lord req's that you be a bandit first. As you can tell, this game will get very in depth as you get more powerful. Now, a strong enhancement will be that each job will not send you back to level 1, instead it will give you a minimium level. EXAMPLE: You are fighting in a lvl 20 zone, and you find a soul, instead of sending you back to 1, and you'd have to fight back in the level 1 zone, it will make you level 20 and you go from there.

LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEN!

Need a trigger man mainly. If you can't take the workload, simply dont join. All or nothing here. I'm doing the terrain/items. Could use help with models and spells.

I am already on a project so I cant really help you with design, but I can help you avoid some pitfalls you seem to be nearing.

1) Never guarentee that your map will be the next big thing on battle net because in most cases it wont be. Even if you think your map has the greatest storyline or the greatest quests, not every battlenetter will see it that way unfortunately.

Quote:
Constant work, this map will never have a final version.
2) Really you cant say this because if you do you will continue working on it your entire life, which I doubt for somereason.

3) The idea of changing into another monster with their soul and then changing into a bigger monster with smaller souls leads to quite a complicated game indeed, and if there's one thing that b.netters hate, its a game that doesnt make any sense. Make sure to explain everything clearly and perhaps make it simpler, but even so battlenet people like things the simpler the better, which is why all those simple RPGs are so famous.

4) Hate me if I'm wrong, but this doesnt sound like that much, and nothing will really discourage people than the project leader not really doing anything. Especially since the items will have to be triggered.

Well, I'm spent. GL with your game and hope it comes out.

I agree with JohnFN. Your 'new project' is a momentary imspiration. Normally you gather 2-3 people outside of forums. Then come to forums once you have something started. In fact, you should really only come the forums to ask for BETA testers.

Battle.net people are very impatient. They hate reading -Quests-, They hate reading Tooltips. They hate doing anything that isn't gaming. Most people here [the forums] haven't played FFORPG, but I did. For like 15 seconds. The only thing that keeps the game going, is the Edited UI. There is nothing else in that thing to make it appealing. For crying out loud, the bridges were so messed up, you like shot up 50 feet in the air and feet 50 down when you walked on and off of them.

So back to my saying. You can't gaurantee NOTHING in your map. I am walking around saying my Footman Wars will be the best out there. I am saying it will change a lot of bad aspects and add new ones. Being cocky only leads to worse mapping.

Finally, doing the terrain and items is got to be the worst project leader job I have ever seen in my life. Find some more.

:EDIT: Triggering is got to be the easiest thing on Earth to do. If you can't trigger, don't do this project. And... Don't be so damn demanding!

Hum heres what i think

1- 50 Bosses, how do u wanna place that on a Wc3 map because you need a donjon for each of thems otherwise it will be ugly and as far as i know max size for a map is 256x256

2- Your Class system is way too weird, maybe you could use quests to become oriented in a class

3- over hundred custom items, 9 races, lots of heroes per races, many custom units, lots of custom abbilities, getting a working save system, thats too much you will be bored before finishing it or will take months maybe a year to get out... i really hope you are done with the terrain already and some stuff because starting this from beggining will be a nightmare and you will change your team often

4- Not to offend you but terraining + items are probably the easiest part which doesnt take that much time unless you go crazy with the terrain
