Guest | Wow.. I feel like a newbie.. but yeah.. I can't get a BLP editor for the life of me. I've got the BLP viewer to work just dandy, but for some reason the converters and such just don't like me. So.. if you all could enlighten me as to the location of a good BLP editor/converter (Or why I'm being a dumbass and not getting the ones I have to work) I've be much appreiative. -Sharsnik |

Guest | Use Wc3 Image Extractor II to convert the .blp to .tga (targa). Use your favorite image editor that can support targa alpha maps, paint shop pro, or adobe photoshop are popular ones (if you have adobe photoshop 7, remember to get the patch to make targa alphas work). |

Guest | I've done that... but it doesn't work. If I edit the TGA file it won't let me save it save a .blp, only TGA... I even tried saving it with the any file extension, hell.. I tried putting the TGA file in and seeing if that would read.. it's not working. All I've been able to do is extract a BLP file, save it, and then put it into a map as with a new name.. I dunno.. what the hell am I doing wrong? -Sharsnik |

Guest | After you edit the file (don't forget to save over the old the alpha map again if you edit it) save it as a tga file. Open up wc3 image extractor II again, and click Open -> Image and choose the .tga you just saved. Now go to Save -> Image and save it as a .blp file (psp or photoshop can't save as blp files) |

Guest | When it doesn't work, what happens? Does it give you an error, does the program freeze, does it look like it saves, but nothing is written? As you go through the process, write down EVERY step as you do it, and any errors that occur. We can't read you mind, and what you may think is implied may not get across to people who are willing to help you. You don't have to be sarcastic just because I gave you something that you did already. From what you posted, it looked like you may have been trying to save a .blp file in paint shop or something. |

Guest | 1) Open the MPQ 2) Select a file 3) Save image as a TGA file 4) Open the TGA file in a paint editor 5) Edit TGA file 6) Open image (in Image Extractor II) 7) Save image (as .blp) 8) "Saved file 'Whatever.tga'." Last time I checked .blp and .tga were different. |

Guest | It looks like you are trying to save the file as a .blp, but you are giving it the extension .tga when saving. In the save dialouge box, when you are doing your step 7 in the box where it says "Unnamed" type in <skin name>.blp (if you leave it blank, and the "Save As" box is on it's default "Supported Images(*.tga, *.blp, *.jpg)" it will save as a .tga file by default) If that doesn't work, then I have no clue what the problem is. Maybe post your edited .tga file and I can try it myself to see if it isn't working because it's corrupted or something. |
