Well everyone, I think I have finally struck gold. Shimrra and I have been working on a Footman Wars to get a map made by us on B.net. So I chose Footmen Wars. Now, I can see everyone complaining about how another Footman Wars... Wah... Deal. Read the following and brace yourself. :P Some *NEW* Features
Some Race Specifics Humans - The balanced race. In most Fantasy Books, Humans tend to be the equal of everything. So, too keep up with the trends, we are doing the same. The Humans are equal. They don't have mana for each of thier units, they aren't slow, they aren't fast either... Theya re just... equal. Nuff said. High Elves - This race is focused on getting your allies unit big and badder faster. The units have mana, 150 Mana for every Tier 1 Unit. Later on you will be able to Reasearch Inner Fire, Slow, and such. They are pretty much the same as Human after that, not really damaging or anything. Oh yea, they do Magic Damage too. Creeps - This race is built on Agility. The Tier 1 units have a .8 level cooldown on thier attack, but are still getting whomped. Shimrra and I are too good at balancing the races. [Heros is another thing... *cough*] So anyways, upgrades for this race consist of Speed and Damage Upgrades. My whole idea for the Creeps was to give them a 10% to do double damage... let's see how that turns out... Undead - Can't live with em, can't live without em. Undead, as you may imagine are just about nuked by the High Elves and the Humans. The Humans have thier Exorcist and High Elves have thier mighty DragonSlayer. :P Which will cripple the Burning Legions Daemons. [Which is a land unit, sorry WC2 loyalists... :(, it just isn't feesable] Thier Upgrades revolve around life and healing. Undead are going to be nuked easily, so they will rely on thier upgrades. Burning Legion - Saving the best for last, the Burning Legion. This race is slow, deals heavy damage, and tanks. Weakness? Ranged. Creeps suprisignly will be at par with the Burning Legion. Until their slow units move into range of the Creeps, the Creeps will be picking them off slowly... Upgrades will revovle around Life and Damage. You can't add speed, that messes with the Race Configurations. --------------------------------------------------- Abilites you won't see abused Bladestorm - This move won't even be in the game. As it is so easy to become imbalanced it's not even funny. No Bladestorm. Storm Bolt and Others - Well, today we had our first ALPHA test, we were harshly smacked upside the head with the fact that Storm Bolt and it's other Storm Bolt based moves, were getting hugely un-balanced. We have taken care of this and hopefully, to be tested, fixed. Water Elementals, Blizzard... Archmages - I'm sure anyone who has played a Footman Wars, knows that the Archmage is easily abused. So we are keeping with this trend. For 5 levels. Once the Archmage, now renamed ArchSorcerer, he becomes less, abused. His Water Elementals are limited to 2 out at a time, Blizzard is nice at the begining, but horrible late game, and Brillance Aura got a nice upgrade, 175% Regen at level 5. AoE Murders - Well, no more AoE nukers. The AoE in this Footman Wars is being kept under constant watch. If the hero has AoE anything, we have made sure he follows our rule. If you can kill more than 10 full HP units in 2 seconds, it's getting nerfed. Summons - Well, Shimrra kinda went overboard with his summons. On todays test, [Death] just about ate us alive with the Eradar Warlock's Summon move. Yea, it was kinda like sending the Fel Guards in for a tank so that his summons wouldn't die. It was horrible. All better now though. :) Stun Moves- If you stun, you're under heavy watch. End of statement. --------------------------------------------- Item Abuse... er... Use Items are being more and more depended on in Footman Wars. Which is why I have developed a counter for it. No, I'm not removing them, I am clogging them. What does this mean? Well to put it quite simply, I am making items that make the hero better... but no so good. I'll explain. One of the items is the Anti-Level Cap. It allows you to go to level 20. That wastes a whole inventory slot, for 4 levels. If you drop it, right back to level 16 and you have to earn those levels back. [I am thinking on whether to store the level above level 16 or not... I like causing the B.net people stress... :)] So thats one. Another is the Bounty Upgrade. The secret to this item is that I don't save how much the bounty adds, but it does add something. I think it will be like 33%. [Working on it]. So that's 2. If you get the idea, there will be at least 8 of these items. I need ideas. Got any? Post em. ---------------------------------------------- Overall, this project is almost at a close. We are currently at ALPHA Version .722. We have about 2 more heros to finish, I have about 25 Ultimates to do... [Geez that just dawned on me... 25...] A lot of balancing issues. We have one offical BETA-ALPHA tester, our good friend [Death]. Vote on if you think this is a nice stray away from the old classic trendy Footman Wars. I like it. Post any feed back, and if you wanna sign up for the BETA and get added to the credits... PM me, E-Mail, IM me. Posting here isn't a good idea, as I can't really keep steady contact. I suggest E-mail. E-Mail -- [email protected] Thanks! |

Phew! After a nice long break, I have brought back the project. There is a new makeover going on right now, as in, it's not the Outland TILESET! We are using the Dalaran Ruins Tileset, and I will be able to have screenshots to the public, Sunday. Here's my list of stuff to do, and DATES!
That's just a SMALL list. I have a WHOLE lot more to do, Shimrra has done his part, I must do mine. If you have any suggestions or creative ideas you would like to see get put in here, just post here. I will give all your ideas a thought, if it's good enough, I will talk to Shimrra about it. If it passes there, you will be added to the -Special Thanks- credits. If it's a REALLY good idea, you get your own reconition. I'll keep you updated! |

Level 20 for one inventory spot?! That's almost too worth it, If you take a good look at regular items, they give around like 2 agility and 1 strength. But something like that gives a good user 4 str 4 int 4 agility, all depnding on the heroes stat point for each level. It also gives extra HP Str=HP. Extra Attack Speed and Extra MP for your spells. That's not a very balanced item. Well unless your heroes just straight out suck then I guess that Item is a good addition. But in most cases an item like that will prolly be bought every game by every player BESIDES the poorest MOST unfortuneit(however u spell it) player. I tend to be that player a lot becuase theres so many fucking footman wars I can't just stick to one of the motherfuckers. First thing u know it you'll be max level 20 then the next time you play you can get up to level 100 and your favorite hero skills are totally different... Thats's when i mumble to myself the word Motherfucker. Anyways the map sounds like a good idea. Remind me of all those times people would throw footman wars maps together in about 3 days. I voted I was going to wait to see it, It does in fact sound interesting. About those Annoying skills... The cheap stun ones. You can make it so they can't hit any heroes. This would actually prove the skill "alright." This is because if one of the heroes can summon something like a deamon, then you can slow it down by stunning it. Truelly i think your perfectly right about that bullshit. I'll be sitting there and a team of 3 guys will come up to my hero, Every one of the guys chose the same hero (Mtn. King) and they will storm bolt me, then it will wear off, then they will storm bolt me again, and again. By the third time the first guy can storm bolt again! Well Fuckshitcock. Also the Heroes should take no money to revive :< just extra time. And I really like the random hero selection nice idea! :D But the 25+ ultimates and custom trigger stuff, You don't need to strain yourself there. Many ultimates are still cool without the extra "Trigger Effects" Make a nice tip system, maybe telling the users that some heroes are better compatible with different races. Yet otehr are best with the race you would least suspect. One last tip before I go to the take a piss, I don't really know how, but make this game about skill and ability, most other Footman wars just depend on the fact if you know the best hero. Another thing is that if you sitting in the field and all your units get thrashed, you have no money, and you have to wait about 10 minutes before you get another set of units. I suggest you make a trigger that spawns footman depending on how many footman he or she already has. So if I have 20 footman and the guy next to me has 3, then he will get his footman like .50 seconds faster. 4 infernal roxors for you |

Thanks for the suggestions. If you would like to BETA test let me know, I'll add you to the list. I am ahead of schedule! I finished the Tier 2 units, 2 triggered spells, and the TERRAIN! in 2 days!! My next project is to work on some more spells, finish the Tier units, do upgrades, and then mess with the items. :) I'm not going to really set dates, but I will try to meet these...
That's pretty much it ... I mean, yea. :) I'll keep you updated. |

There are 2 things I dont really like about footie wars (and a bonus), so let me describe them and maybe you can plan to avoid them. 1. It takes too long! ...it really does. Normal footie wars games I play last around 40 minutes; after playing once I go off to do different things, so perhaps you should take measures to cut this amount in half. 2. Some tier units are inaccessable I get annoyed; in my favorite footie wars (nohunters) there is almost no way to get the final techs unless you ask everyone in your team to donate money to you, and that doesnt happen very often... Speaking of which the map layout looks almost exactly like nohunters (3 people in each corner in sort of a base, walled in by the walls), and... wait... it sounds like nohunters too (tiers? races? random heroes?) you might want to do something about that... And the bonus: too many units! As I'm sure you remember from that disasterous test of my map, too many units are bad. Make sure to do something so you cant have too many units because of the lag. Anyways, I'd like to beta test if you need more.. and I want to see those ultimates! ;) |

For 1: There's about 40 footman wars with tiers, and every footman war map has 3 people walled in a corner.... For 2: Your right about that time thing, if there's anyway to make a dialog at the begining of the game, that says like Long Game or Short game, and if you want a short game it will just cut the HP of your town hall in half... or summin I dunno :( |
