Pretty Much Complete Gnomish Automaton

Based upon the Huntress, I created this automaton for my Gnome campaign. Now I need to learn modelling/alpha channel skills so I can get rid of the ears, the weird hangy down thing, shorten the hair, and perhaps get rid of the weapon.

Anyway, what do you all think? I appreciate all the constructive criticism I can get.

not bad. You can get rid of all of that stuff just within the skin. if you want to email it to me i could do it in 3 minutes tops.

Heeeeey, nice!
I like the detail to the face!

I think to make the stuff transparent, in the alpha channel, paint the thing you want invisible black. But if there is team color where u paint, then instead of it being tranparent, it will be team color.

besides the "prince albert" or whatever u call that thing with the ring hanging between her legs j/k i reckon the hair looks cool too bad the skin loops and theres that discontinuation look but still is great, btw is she supposed to look so fleshy? could be like a blowup doll with a huge *** anyway keep the shoulder pad the hair u cant do too much with but looks good any way deffinetly get rid of the stuff hangin between her legs and yeah ears gotta go

You can't shorten the hair in the alpha channel.

The "long" hair is really just the same section of hair repeated over and over again. To make it transparent would be to make a gaping hole in the back of her skull.

Thankfully Korgath editted the model for me to shorten the hair, though he also got rid of the back armor flap- dunno if you mind.

I'll upload when I get home so you can use it if you want.

When you say fleshy, where exactly are you applying that too? The back flap thingy which Zedric mentioned has been changed?

Zed, the Korgath model sounds quite useful, I really didn't care for that whole back armor flap personally and was going to do the editing for that, the hair, and the hanging down thing.

I'd appreciate use of the model, although how short did they make the hair? Incidently, can the hanging ring thing be removed via alpha channels?

Looks awesome! The thing hanging between it's legs would look better gone though, try alphaing it out.

Sorry I didn't get to it last night, I'll get it tonight.

The backflap can't be made transparent through alpha because it shares a skin with the Watcher's larger shoulderpad (stupid Blizzard...), but that hanging thing can, I do believe.

I like it! It looks a bit like my android skins. If you want to use them for your gnomish map/campaign just download them and give me credit.

eh, finally, a creative skin heh. No, there've been plenty, and plenty good ones in either category. I really like this one, a good deviation from the normal stuff, no recoloring or c&p.

The design work is pretty good and well placed, clear enough as it can get in most areas because of the model's uvw mapping. The face and legs are awesome, but for the chest, since it has crappy mapping, I suggest darkening the lines of the chest so that they have the same sort of clear contrast that the thighs or the face has.

I have no doubt that the actual skin itself is great looking, but its the models fault things are blurry.

Yeah, alpha channels, just load up the alpha layer/mask selection layer, and black out everything you don't want (excluding the hair, until you get that edited model).

Good job though

It'd also be cool if you attached a small grey smoke or steam effect to the back. (Steam powered...get it?! :P)

This should be it. I have a horrible filing system for my stuff, so I can't be certain.

Thank all :)

Pencil, you're android gave me the drive to go make one of my own, I'll consider using yours but I may have to 'grunge' them up a bit (the gnomes aren't known for their tidiness :))

After some successful editing, I've gotten rid of the ears and the ring. Zedric's model removed the weird end cape thing so the back looks quite nice (with every breath a small panel raises up slightly to show vents underneath it, an unexpected but cool bonus).

One slight problems is I'm really having a tough time figuring out where on the skin the weird little string thing is (the thing which the ring is attached to). Could someone possibly point me to where that part of the skin is? If it's part of a bigger area, perhaps I'll need to edit the model for that too...

Anyhew, included is the original watcher, so just tell me if you know :) Thanks!

The model is technically Korgath's - I had no part in the making. :D

Just want to give credit where credit is due. :)

hmm...so can anyone help with the whole string skin thing? :)
