Like the title implies, I want to make a campaign. Since I want to make a campaign for the warcraft community (dah) and a story based one (Since I really think that many campaign doesn't focus on sotry telling, especially the one blizzard made for the game... I mean, Arthas becoming an undead...please... Kerrigan became a zerg, at that time it was cool, but now...."It's SOOO *insert how many years Starcraft was launched* years ago ;) ) But enough about me bitching, I want to hear YOUR opinion. My campaign is going to have a HUGE number of maps (30 and going up, but they will rather be small, but I couldn't tell how many time it will take to get throught the game...and no, I am not saying that "just to impress you", I want the player to feel connected to the characters, just like a movie). And even though I think "the story" is THE most important part of a campaign (even thought you have cool skins and model, it can't feel the void of a crappy story) I think one of the best part of a campaign are fun to play mission. So I need good idea for maps "type" in general. "What do you mean by "type"...are you coming on to me?" By types, I means this: Tides of Blood/DOTA is an AOS (I am not saying anything you don't know here). My campaign is going to have a few of these, my campaign will also have "Castle Defence" kind of map, and also "RPG" (where you complete some small quest) and some other types. What would you like to see in a campaign? What kind of "type of maps" would like to see? If you have an idea, please, drop me a post here. "What will I get if one of my ideas is going to be a part of your campaign?" A small "Thank you" not in the credits, all I can give...maybe love...if you want to ;) Anyway, tell me your ideas guys :) ! |

oh ym a such nice idea for a thread and nobody awnsers! but well now im the first one to post YOU`RE right camapigns must have great and original Story I hated some fragments of the Blizzard Camapign! and the custom ones ? i never saw one with a very good story The real Story is in the jRPGs like the Legendary Final Fantasy ! I am working on a Campaign Ok thsi si hwo me and my friend brdakrmoon made a AWSOME story First i make a A - I made a story , well if I think about it , my first trys were pathetic , even the first RPGs , had a bit better story , but then I had a idea. The was a bit better then a old RPGs , soemthing like Final Fantasy 5 (in the quality) so I thought we could use this Second brdarkmoon makes a B - I tell him the story , he tells me what he thinks about it , and he tells soem concepts , or like asks questions what can sometimes be interesting . We both make a C - We finish the story and thats the ABC of story making My concept of Story changed into a awsome game Well i hoep I could somehow help you make a good story About the "Types" of maps , well here is my favorite Battle Net map Piramid Escape - Plenty of Trials and challlenges I always loved riddles , I remember in Final Fantasy 10 there were Cloisters of Trials , in these places you had to pass a maze of underground corridors , move Spheres and statues etc. and at the end you obtained another beast to summon . Put some ancient ruins , they are really awsome Well I hoep i helped you PS Well put me in the Special Thanks ! ;) |

Totally agree with your first statement, and I think putting something like "Cloisters of Trials" in my campaign could work, plus I could use "password" that the player type, and if its the good one, it openned a door that leads to somewhere (treasure, or just the rest of the maps) Thanks, that idea is going to fill some "empty holes" in my campaign¸. Edit: About the story, its mostly written, so its pretty good in the departement, I just need ideas to make my campaign "unboring" ![]() |

Why does whenever someone says RPG everybody instantly thinks of Final Fantasy? What about Chrono Trigger and Breath of Fire II? Simple yet elegant RPG's. Back on topic, since you are having 30+ maps you are bound to get repetitive in your main quests. Have lots of mini/optional quests. |

Well, even thought Chrono Trigger and BOF are very good RPG's, Final Fantasy is THE ultimate RPG series. I think it's also a good idea to put a bit more optionnal quest |

FF has too many flashy effects, takes up too much time. It may be very good but it aint elegant IMO....enough of RPGs. It will also be nice if there was a special system that exists through most of the maps. For example in one of the early maps you could purchase a special goblin store/chain and in effect run that store/chain. It will depend on how the story runs, if it is like TFT orc campaign or otherwise. |

Yeah, I agree with you, FF series is really flashy, but in my opinion, FF6 (or FF3 in the US) is the best one. About that idea, I agree with you, that would be a great idea, but wouldn't work in my campaign :( |

I like every square Soft RPG , and the Breath of Fire series About the Cloisters of Trials In FFX each Cloister of Trials was about soemthing , I mean that in each of them you had to do something by moving the Statues transporting Spheres (orbs) etc. Like: Remove the Flames from a Corridor Create a Symbol on the Floor Create a Bridge of Ice Move on flying paths of light (looked really strange) |
