Guest | I had an idea for a game and was wondering if it had been done before. My game is based on Warhammer, it called Warbands. It starts off like an RPG, you have a selector and there are 7 heroes with circles of power in front of them. You go to the circle of power and it gives a description of the Warband, there are 7 warbands: Human, Orc, Elf, Undead, Demon, Druid and Humanoid. If you go to the hero you are transported to another area where you select one of two generals for your warband. Say you chose Humans, you will have the choice of a Paladin or a Beserker. When you select your general 5 buildings will be created at your start area. The buildings will different for each warband. One building will be an Upgrade building, the other 4 will be troop buildings. There will also be a general item store and a special item store at each start location. Each player will start with 200 gold. There will be no way to get gold in the game, you will only have 200. You will buy troops, upgrades and items and make yourself a small army, then you will try to elimenate all the other players. There are creeps put there to fight and get XP and there is a fort in the middle with a powerful artifact in it. There are also items that will summon an avatar that will join your army permenatly. If your general (the only hero you will have) dies, then you loose. Now I did all the triggering so the game works fine. Right now I am in the long process of creating all the units, making sure that they help balance the warbands out, but making sure that each warband is unique. The problem I have run into is I can't make the player lose when his general is dead. When someone selects their general, the hero is created so multiple people can pick the same general. Be cause of that I don't know the trigger that will make the player lose when his general dies. I was also thinking of making a trash can, you could send your units there, they would be removed from the game and you could get the money you spent on them back. Is there an easy way to do this, or do I have to make a trigger for each type of unit? Can anyone help me out? Also, is this a unique idea or has someone else done this before? And does this type of game sound intresting in anyway (would you play it)? Thanks |

Sounds like a very advanced Hero Arena. It should still be fairly good. To solve the whole "losing" issue, just create a variable for each player's hero. When that variable dies, that player loses. Just so you know, I won't play it since I don't play over B.net. The biggest reason is all the Jackoffs there. Hell, I gave up on B.net back in the days of StarCraft because all people ever did was play stupid cash maps! Now there is at least more variety in the over used maps, but.... -Insaniteus- ------------------------Trivia Fact: My real life mother lived in the neighborhood that the very first McDonalds was built in when she was a child. She equates their success more with how cheap they were rather than the food quality (Since they were nearly half the price of their competetors) |

Guest | Yeah, it is a little like a hero arena, but the troops play a big part of the game. I will balance it so that you won't just spend all your money on your hero, be cause there will be a few elite troop choices that are almost as powerful as heroes. And there will be creeps as well. I also put a fort with a garrison in the middle with 2 powerful artifacts in it. What will make or break you is your ability to make and use your warband the right way. Each one will have advantages and disadvantages. There will be 8-10 troops to choose from in each warband, and each warband will be unique. You will beable to field between 10-14 units per warband, depending on the troops, items and upgrades you choose. |
