Skinning/Model Transparecy

How do you skin a model in such a way that a particular part of the model completely dissapears (like doing a custom skin only you want to entire head to dissapear or something). I went to look at Draco's forum on Alpha channel editing and I followed all that, but I still can't get it to work!

I use psp 8.

well paint shop pro 8 has a problem with alphaing i ue photoshop so i cant help much. but it should all be very similar. I know the alphas work exactly the same.

What's the problem with alpha'ing? I've done everything and it won't work!
