Yep, it's me with my annoying Cleaving Attack again. how do I get it to work with Missle or Artillery type attacks, and not just normal melee? |

you... don't. Cleaving attack doesn't work on ranged units. You'll have to do it some other way (such as using flak cannons) |

Can't add Flak Cannons, it doesn't add splash. It does its own damage and splash unrelated to unit's damage, or at least that's how it appears from the data. I'll try experimenting with orb of fire though, because I remember its original description mentioned something about splash. |

Orb of fire also deals an absolute value damage. You might try pulverize. But there is simply no way to get cleave to work with ranged attacks (well I suppose you could give the unit a melee attack with long range, but then it woulnd't have a missile art). |

Well.. thats true... you cant actually have cleaving attack on range... I find that a good replacment for this is to make an ability alot like pierciong bolt so that the attack will damage all units it passes! this can be really impressive if the side spaces are fairly large (I.e the bolt flies through an army, killing everyone in the way before it gets to its actual target.) This is one of the best substitutes i can think of but sorry... cleaving attack is stricly for mellee! |

Thx guys, aparently ability solutions won't work. It's ok though, I figured out how to use Attack Spill Radius in combination with Attack Spill Distance upgrades to get the splash to work. |

As far as I know Ballistas, Catapults, Mortars and Meatwagons have "Splash Damage". Same goes with the Cannon Towers. Maybe you can use that instead of cleaving (maybe using the Impale upgrade?) If you are worried about damage to friendly units, just download World Editor Unlimited and it allows you to set the targets of the splash damage. |

Thread closed. It's a dead thread and "QuakeII best" is adding NOTHING to the discussion. Renegade already knows how to make artillery attacks. |
