WarHack: A Multi Player RPG (not like all those other RPGs)

I am making a Multiplayer map/mod for Warcraft, it supports 8 players, and I have almost completed the triggering. The dungons will be played through in a random order and populated with monsters moments before any player enters them, the monsters generated will be based upon the average level of the characters, monsters will slowly be regenerated as players kill them off. There are 5 hero classes, 3 races: elf, man, and orc and 3 alinments: lawful, neutral and chaotic. Inventory has been expanded to 14 slots that work just the same as normal WC inventory. Sometimes units drop corpses which can be put in your inventory for later sacrifice to your god on a co-alined alter. Luck has been added that can get better, or worse, and effects things like your chance to dodge, which I added for EVEY unit. Chance to dodge is based on the level of the attacked unit vs the attacking unit and is NOT static.


Here are a few screens so you see I am not full of hot air or some sixth grader with no clue what is going on...

I made an item that makes you invisable for .01 sec, and when that item is used it moves you each thing in your inventory to a regon and move other items form other regons into your inventoy, it is a rather simple yet borring set of triggers to make.

make a 256x256 image, save it, convert to blp and name it war3mapMap.blp, then import and remove the war3imported\

Nice screenshots, good combat system. But keep in mind that when players are given control of only 1 unit, you're going to have to give them plenty of actively-used spells to keep the action going. Otherwise it starts playing like a MMORPG (most of which you can play with both eyes closed and your pinky).

Good combat system? do you mean the chance to dodge, other then that it is like other WC RPGs, and then there are the Wizards that can read spell books to gain spells that there class does not support, much like the spell books in Nethack or Diablo. I think what you said about the spells is so true and I got your PM, as of now they each have 7 spells but are only granted a spell every other level, which alows for more spells total but makes it slower to gain spells.

Amen. Unfortunately, it's things like this and people like you that make me wish I'd take the time to go find Nethack, and that I didn't have the competence of a sixth grader with no clue what's going on.
Once I find me Nethack and figure out what it's all about, I'll be sure to find this map, and I'll do my best to avoid the pirated versions.

syco, i have no clue what you just said.
@LrdSlothPaladin: I like the inventory. I WOULD like to see effects stack however, maybe find a way to make a whole bunch of items that are constant in your top left slot of inventory, and whenever u pick up say, a sword +1 damage, the sword is put in the xtra space, (or something) and the +0 "Damage Bonus" item is replaced with a "+1 Damage Bonus" item. Then if you pick up an orb of fire (+6 dmg, fire atk) item becomes (+7 Damage Bonus Item). something like that, complicated, maybe something for a campaign/large singleplayer rpg, but would be cool. ok next item of business, (it will come later i gtg for now)

Just what you want, more screens!

Here is how to go about using alters and offering:
First you need a corpse.

Then you need to walk up to the alter and make sure it is co-aligned

Then you click offer and there you have it!


Traval down into a new mine...


Golly jeepers! You can pick that corpse up!

Nethack can be found at www.nethack.org it is a free game that has been in develupment for the last 20 years, it is all ascii graphics and has a very steep learning curve, however it is the best game ever made in the history of time and space (it took me around 2 months to learn to play and help from other hackers) a good site that has lots of helpful info about Nethack is Yet Another Nethack Site and here is an animated gif of my most gloryus death ever

Update: As of now I am adding monsters and working on some memory leaks I have been informed of, no monsters will be quite like the ones in WC however there will be a low amount of custom models for monsters, however I am going to use a bit of item models (I hate those cheats) when I release it expect about 100 modified or custom creeps. (many taken directly from Nethack)
