The problem is that there are/were (don't know if they have been fixed) bugs that caused this odd behaviour.

Try what nathanmx said.

The easiest solution for the problem would be to purchase Frozen Throne, which is available for really little money. ^_^

Tell them to obtain it too. It's one of the greatest expansions available.

Lemme use Winterwars as an example. Try and save the name like this: Wintermaul Wars v1.50.w3m or whatever the Reign of Chaos extension is... I used to have this same problem, I dunno if what I just said fixed it, but like Starcraftfreak said, tell you're friends to get it too! It adds a LOT of stuff you can do in the WE.

= \ That's really weird...because, if I remember correctly, when the editor is forced to save your map as a Frozen Throne map, it usually tells you why. Much like when it shifts from qualifying to be a melee map to not qualifying to be a melee map, it says "This map is no longer a melee map:..." and continues to list the reasons why. Maybe my memory is just confused with the StarCraft editor which did, in fact, tell you when your map became expansion-only and why. Maybe I should double check that now...yes, I double-checked. The World Editor, under normal circumstances, will inform you, when you save your map, if your map now requires the expansion and why. If this prompt came up for you, and you disregarded it, then I'm afraid that all you can do is look carefully for any units or settings that you may have tampered(sp?) with that are TFT(The Frozen Throne)-only. Then again, perhaps it is a bug as SCfreak was saying. Take note: There are many features in the World Editor-like certain menus, options, the Buff and Ability Editors I believe, things like that-that are, too, TFT-only. It isn't just units and tile sets that are TFT-only. So, it may be very difficult for you to find out what it is that's making your map TFT-only. Good luck. = \

P.S. As far as World Editor features go, I'm not sure if it was TFT that brought them, or the patch, or both, so hopefully one of these kind people here will varify that for us.

I have the same problem. I downloaded a map over battle.net ROC found some bugs. I went to edit the map, i checked and it says expansion required but it was saved as a w3m file. How can that be? Is there an editor that can do that?

Does anyone know where to find older versions of World Editor? Specific one 4482 don't know which patch its from.
