Ugh!!! Nothing Is Working!!!

Okay, I need help with a race for a tower wars map. I know its weird, but I think the race is cool :8. Okay the things need to have this specs:
-Summoned, the towers must be summoned, not built like human, NE, or orcs.
-Inventories, the towers need inventories so you can buy items to upgrade the towers' attack damage or speed.
-Working Shop, so you can buy "rune of attack speed" and "rune of attack damage"

Okay, the problems are these:

-The towers are summoned and they go up to 50 health, then they stop being built
-The shop does not work, the builder has backpack researched AND Inventory (in his abilities thing) and whenever I try to buy a rune of speed it just drops on the ground, he cannot pick it up. I have not tried the rune of damage, but I'm pretty sure it will yield the same results cause it was based off the same item...

To have summone dbuildings, the builder MUST be based off the acolyte.

Some items can only be handled by heroes.

Ohh!!! Hey, great job on Tank Commanders !!! Okay, so I need to base the item off of a unit-compatible item? Thank you!!!

If you want units to be able to use hero-only items, make the units have the Invetory (Hero) spell instead of the unit version. That could work. Then again it might crash the game :)

I tried that, but it still wouldn't pick up. How can I tell which items are for units and which are for heroes only? o_O this is confusing.

Well, anything that modifies stat is obviously out of the question. In general, items don't work for units at all because theyre not meant to. They can carry things (items that are not used on pickup. i.e. runes and stuff won't work) but just can't use em.

Yeah.. ive seen some maps like this that actually worked. Like said before, to summon you MUST base off the acolyte. Backpack isnt really a good usage because most (if not all) of the time, the unit will not be able to use the items. Tryu with JUST the hero inventory. Also, for this map, mabye consider making all towers based on heros! then check the box that says is a building and work away! this would allow for tower tomes (Building upps)! well try away.. i doubt it would work though but still... if it does, this is one map ill be BETA tetstin!

Currently, I am only implementing this new race into Wintermaul Wars NEW RACES 1.4.2, but that's just because I'm too lazy to do the unit-spawning triggers and stuff. I was wondering, as a sidenote, if you guys would prefer it as a tower wars, or just a tower defense? Also, when I'm finished, I would need someone to host the map cause I can't host o_O

Okay, thanks for all the help guys. I got the summoning to work, and finally the items can go in both the towers' AND the builder's inventories ^_^. I based the items off of a Healing Salve, but now the only problem, is that you can't USE the thing. Okay this is hard to explain... I want it to be like a potion, you put it in a tower's inventory and then you USE the potion and it adds say 5 damage, but when I tried this I couldn't use the potion, it as like an item of +5 damage... Grr this is making me mad!!! Does anybody know how to fix it? I made it have 1 charge... Does the fact that it is under the "Purchasable" category have any effect on the item? Does the "cooldown group" do anything? What is the cooldown group?

The cooldown group just determines how long it will take for the item to be usable again after you first use it, and which items will share the cooldown. A good example of this are various healing items; when a hero drinks a potion of healing, he will for some time not be able to use other healing potions, or greater healing potions, or health stones, maybe other things as well, all those who share the same cooldown group...

As for your problem, I would guess that you don't have "stats - actively used" set to true. However, if the item has the "bonus damage" ability, that ability will work as long as the hero holds the item, because that's how the ability works, it cannot be transformed to permanently increase damage after the item has been used. An alternative would be to increase the primary attribute (based on a tome; the damage would increase with the attribute), or, you could increase the damage with triggers.

hmmmm.. triggering the damage is probobally your best way to go.. but if ur not all that great at spell and ability triggering then i suggest just going with the tomes idea.... oh! and if you do do that... make sure you dont base if of an original tome otherwise your uilder will get the bonus as it is used as soon as it is picked up!
