First off, I have no idea where this thread should go, so I put it here. Second off, I have already read the Importing tutorial. i understand that the imported files have the wrong path. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW: What are you supposed to change the file paths to? Do you put the path as it is on your hardrive? EG. C:// My Documents/Program Files/IMport/Models/Christmas Goblin (I just made that file up. I don't know if there is a Christmas Goblin so Don't yell at me.) ANy help would be appreciated thankx :D |

No, it only has to have the local path, as in, where, fictitiously, it might exist inside your Warcraft III\ directory. By default, imported files pretend to be in C: \Program Files\Warcraft III\war3imported\. That's actually just fine for some situations. However, models refer to their skins at a specific location, so while a simple model can often be imported anywhere, the path for the skin is very exact. Usually a downloaded model will tell you what custom paths you should use for the files in it. |

so if I make a folder called war3imported i won't have a problem? :( |

No, you don't actually have to put the files anywhere except imported into the map. You have to change the path for some files in the Import Editor so that other files know where to find them. What paths are you using now, and what paths are the things that you've imported supposed to be using? |

Here's a model importing tutorial: http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Tu...=Import_Models You don't make any folders or anything, you simply open the import manager and import the file. When it shows a filepath, thats the path the file is saved in the map, not on your computer, so war3imported is the filepath that the model is saved in on the map, not on your computer. When your picking the the units to use that model, under Art - Model, you simply click the bottom button and type in the filepath that you saved the model under, no matter what filepath you saved it under. |

so i just make sure that the import file path and the model: art path are the same? And to the other, I'm using war3mapimported\terran goliath.whatever all the terran goliath files are in war3mapimported, a folder in the WC3 directory. |

Lets say you download a model file. Model only, no skins.. just a single model. You can take it from the .zip or .rar or whatever and put it anywhere you want. You don't have to make a folder called war3mapimported because the WE really don't give a damn where it came from. You can just upload it, and you can leave the filepath, for example, war3mapimported/model.mdx, and the game would use it just fine. Now when you download skins, this is where you have to give a specific filepath when importing to the WE. the original model file can be imported and left under the path war3mapimported/model.mdx. Here's how you determine the filepath of the skins. When you open the .zip file in winzip, scroll all of the way to the right where it says path name. Youll see the filepath that the skins belong in. Just put that in the WE, for example, model/headskin/headskin1.blp. The filepath in winzip wont include the actual filename at the end of it, you gotta put it in there. When you download a model that has other models, like cape.mdx or sword.mdx, you have to do the same thing you did for skins when importing them. I hope this makes things slightly clearer. |

Okay, that would help alot, except that I am not using winzip. I just have a windows compressed folder. I don't know exactly what it is, I just know its not winzip. THe file I downloaded was the Terran Goliath. In the zipped folder, there is a folder known as "Terran Goliath". In this folder, there are 6 files: Goliath.blp, Goliathfire1.blp, GoliathFire2.blp, Terran Goliath.MDX, Terransmoke1.blp, and Terransmoke2.blp. I think that the .blp files are skins, correct? Since you don't have to change the path for models, shouldn't I have a grey goliath outline, IE, the model without the skin? Instead I get a green checkered cube and an error message: "Error, could not load filepath war3imported/terranGoliath.mdl". This confuses me, since there is no Terrangoliath.mdl. Would that be the skinned model? |

Okay! finally got it to work, i re-read the importing tutorial and changed the filepaths to what they were on the Goliath download page. I could have sworn I had done that before though... Anyway, thankx |
