Program to save 32-bit .tga files.

I read a tutorial (http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?t=51482) that said when saving .tga files they need to be 32-bit, and it said to use photoshop. Well.. I dont have photoshop. I use InfanView to save my files as .tga, but they arent 32-bit and therefore look extremely distorted when I try and convert them to .blp. Is there another program out there that will save files as 32-bit .tga?

Try to save it as BMP or JPG (you will lose the alpha channel). WC3 Viewer can convert these formats as well (but probably without alpha).

When I try .bmp they become just as distorted as they do with the incorrect .tga file. So I just re-installed photoshop 7 and I'm gonna try it this way.. thanks anyway.

Edit: I installed photoshop and took another look at the tutorial. I see this: Save as a 32-bit TGA. I don't see how to change what type of .tga you save it in. As far as I know it saves them in 8-bit .tga.

If thats the case, something is wrong with the way IrfanView saves images.

Photoshop 7 will solve your problems.

Actually, I have the SAME problem in Photoshop 7. When I make an alpha channel and try and save, the save option for to save alpha channels is greyed out with a big ! next to it, at the bottom is says when saving in this format, you has to be saved as a copy, so I guess I cant save alpha channels. I don't think it saves in 32-bit either, or at least I can't figure out how to make it 32-bit. I save it as .tga and try and use the converter to convert from .tga to .blp, and it tells me the .tga file cannot be converted due to an unsupported compression. So as for now I'm stuck with the skin files, and how to save them as different file types.

Nevermind, I solved it. I just made a tool that adds an opaque alpha channel to .jpg files and did it that way. Now the model and the skins work fine, except its supposed to be using two different skins on two different parts of the body, and both parts use the same skin.

Here's what my finished model looks like:

Thanks anyway for the help.
