Thanks to all the people that do support and post help and questions on this website. I have came here several times and found help without having to post the same question that was perviously asked. Thanks to all those that help make wc3campaigns work. Now on to why I am here. I have recently just picked up a project of mine that I have decided to acually finish. Based around Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1, I have 8 playable characters and all the job classes, which is giving me trouble but after not coding for 2 months its finally coming back to me, and several towns and landmarks that were also in the game. My question is this... What is it that the people look for when playing an rpg map in Warcraft 3? Defense of the Ancients or DotA was cool around version 3, then versions 4 to 5 I thought were very rugged, but an update every day on a 2 mb map for some people its not much, but for others ITS FLAT ANNOYING!!! And undeadBungie did a spectacular job at his final fantasy map. Now to differ mine from his I have acually worked around one of the games to add more depth and more detail instead of trying to combine eight or nine of them together. So I will leave off with the question at hand. What is it that the people look for when playing an rpg map in Warcraft 3? |

What I look for in an RPG is mainly effort, a buch of renamed heros and spells = mediocre RPG. I always look for good terrain, and an RPG without some sort of a storyline is boring. |

Customization and a WIDE range of features. Take UndeadBuggies FF RPG for example. You look at the most recent versions. He has new models, which are for characters that players WANT. Sephiroth was added with a custom model. Now you see people playing like crazy to kill Kefka and unlock Sephiroth.. people love that. There is a wide range of selectable players. Now this can be multiplied by the number of job classes, giving an even higher amount of playable units. You may join a game and select amarant, and want to be a fighter. While you see another Amarant run past you who is a huge beserker.. this is a form of customization, where you choose what type of hero you want yours to be. As I see your are implementing a job class, this would be great for you too. When I play an RPG, one that's specific to a game, like VQuest or FFORPG, I look for things that relate to the actual games, and don't forget, if you can find custom models of Final Fantasy characters, buildings, whatever.. use em, just dont get outta hand for it. Try and add a few features, characters, or even spells that was in the orignal Final Fantasy games, people will really enjoy using these. I could go on for HOURS, but something you need to decide for yourself is, what do YOU like in RPG games? You played the FFORPG by UndeadBuggie. What's something you really liked about it? Was it the resemblance to the other FF games, or the wide range of features and items. Things you yourself enjoy are the greatest aspects of your map, as you will enjoy creating and testing them as well. I hope you see where I'm going with this. You are the only one thats making the map.. the majority of the features you put in it are your own personal likings. So what do YOU like in an RPG? |

Lack of tooltip errors. If I think the map was made by someone who can't even remotely speak proper english I form an uncontrollable bias towards the map. |

One thing I really like are voice acting, and if not possible, reasonable speech times. I detest having to wait aeons for the people to finish speaking (the mind reads faster than it can hear). |

If it has NOTHING to do with Final Fantasy or Dragon Ball Z then it immediately gets bonus points from me. |
