NEW!!! Dwarven Warrior + tiers

Ok, I've been working on this and it's gonna require a bit of explaination, so bare with me ^_^

In D&G, all units have inventories and gain experience, like heros. In fact, think of it as having an army of heroes. Instead of upgrading their weapons and armour, you create different types at your blacksmith and assign them to your units. The more powerful the weapon however, the slower the attack speed. The same goes for armour, the better it is, the slower the movement speed. Don't worry though, they won't impare your unit all that much. The idea behind this is that instead of having one kind of Tier 1 melee unit, you can choose how strong, fast, stealthy etc. the unit is. There will also be abilities that you can choose between to compiment the armour and weaponry of your unit, I'll explain more about that later.

Anyway, what I've done so far is the Dwarven Warrior with his different levels of armour/weaponry.
Zoom (requires log in)

Explaination
Tier 1 - Leather Armour + Axes
Tier 2 - Chainmail Armour + Warhammers
Tier 3 - Platemail Armour + Elite Weaponry (a Hammer and Axe)

Hope ya all like

how cunningly inventive! there are only 2 things i would ask,
1.will the helmet change at all?
2.can the dwarves have there armour hammered on by a smithy as an ani? ^_^

the heavy armour concept was used in morrowind ,but the weapon idea is good, and the models are top class as usual-just when i thought dvg was dead as well.

Interesting, but when you train a warrior, he starts out with no weapons?

No, he won't have his armour hammered on to him. His helmet gets 1 update, he can have a lamp attached to it to improve vision.

Yeah, Dwarven Warriors start out unarmed, but they're very strong, being dwarves and all ^_^

Make it so that you can see how many enemies your unit has killed :>

nice...i like the idea to get stronger tier by tier...but the tier3 armour looks a bit heavy imho, even for a strong dwarf...

keep it up! :D

edit: what i wanted to ask challis, could u make a list/thread with the stuff you'll sureley use (from the old things) and finished things...would be interesting which ones of the "old" units will be used...

Yeah, I'll do that at some point, cos a lot of it isn't gonna get used. For example, I don't think there's gonna be any heros in this game, just named units, which means that that goblin hero model won't be used anymore

no hammering? a shame... are these armours for every class, what i mean is if there is an engineer model for example, will they have different levels and models of armour? As for unarmed i can see 'em slugging it out with fists,or even a random beer tankard.Lastly will the unused older mods go up for download somewhere?(i suggest whitehorn inc :> )

These armour and weapon upgrades will exist for all the units except the workers, they will be regular units, no inventories
