I need a barrens makeover

Hey, I kinda threw together a desert on a part of my open RPG map and i thought it be time to rework it. I have no knowledge whatso ever on how to detail the barrens. :( If someone would be interested in remaking my desert into an awesome detailed place, please contact me.
